I just saw this myself. So exciting if true! I've never ever played DQ7 as it's never been released here in the UK. I've played DQ8 a bunch but if they release them both, I'll buy them both.
Just need VC releases of 1-3 and we'd be able to play the whole series on a 3DS.
I've wanted DQVII for so long now, and recently DQVIII too, that my heart can't take any false rumours. I'm not believing anything until I see official PR.
But damn, I want this to be true.

This is awesome. (I'm just gonna go ahead and accept it as true). Despite Nintendo doing very little in terms of first party support for the 3DS, it's still got another year or so of great releases. @ekreig Don't forget FF explorers too. We'll almost definitely get that.

Why didn't Nintendo get hold of all of these new games and just announce them at E3? Who cares if they're not first party. Woulda made them look better.
@Dezzy I sure hope you're right. The 3DS needs a PSO-like online RPG. Square has already filed a trademark for it in the West, but E3 has come and gone and they're being awfully quiet about it...:/
There are hardly any FF games we don't get so I'd be pretty confident. They know the name still carries weight in the west.
Also, I just want to add that the comments on MyNintendoNews are so bad that it makes Kotaku's users look civil. I could not find one on-topic reply in that article HandheldGuru linked. Not. One. Everyone was flaming so hard I was afraid my screen was going to melt from the heat of their unnecessary and misdirected rage...except for the one guy who asked "What about EX Troopers". That guy was just dumb.
I can't say I'm a long time DQ fan since I've only played (and loved) IV and IX on the DS, but I consider myself on board of this DQ VII-VIII localisation hype train
On a side note, maybe you've already noticed, but I found a very interesting piece of info on Nintendoeverything a couple of days ago: in a news article about the latest Famitsu scan about DQ VIII, they pointed out how an excerpt from that very Famitsu page teased a big announcement, and that was the first thing I thought of upon reading Horii bombshell revelation.
So far for the majority its been sequels & re-makes of older games...

Surely there haven't been that many remakes? Sequels though is pretty much par for the course in modern gaming. They're all too scared of putting time and money into something that absolutely no-one buys (e.g codename STEAM).
With a sequel you have a guaranteed fanbase and a name that people will already know and have a vague understanding of.
