Topic: A 3DS and 3DSXL

I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer. I have a 3DSXl and my brother has a regular 3DS. He no longer wants his, but he has ambassador games and a few others I'd like on my system before he sells it. If I wanted to transfer them onto my system, how would that work? I ask because he has a few games downloaded that I have as well, and I don't want his save files to over write them, so would I just delete them off of his before the transfer? I'm mainly concerned with not losing the saves on the games I have.

Um... if you do a system transfer from the other 3DS to your 3DS XL, it will replace everything on the XL with everything from the other 3DS.

I had understood that what you have on the target system stays intact, but I can't seem to find out in what capacity.

Transfer the information from your 3DS XL to the 3DS, then transfer that information back to the 3DS XL.

@BlatantlyHeroic: Ah, I see. The other 3DS will still be an ambassador, so you can re-download them and then transfer to the XL. That sounds like a good idea!

But wait wont he lose the Ambassador Games when he transfers his 3DS stuff to the other 3DS? I thought when you transferred stuff it was all or nothing.

Yeah with Nintendo it is confusing but from what I have heard is that its all or nothing. Thus if he wants the Ambassador games hes going to have to take his brother's save files as well. Also dont forget to copy the contents of the SD card to a PC before doing the transfer and than to copy the contents on the other SD card (unless you are going to just use the old SD card in your system)

When you do a transfer to a console that has games installed, they will be deleted from the system, but you will still be able to download them from the eshop.

I heard somwhere that transfers could be done only a limited number of times. If you don't mind wasting two transfers just to get the ambassador games on your system, do the XL to normal back to XL transfer someone mentioned, you will keep your save files and you will be able to re download the ambassador games.

that's what I've thought before but then they started making plans that seemed like I was wrong....
