If the WiiWare screen is Super Mario Bros., The DsiWare screen is Super Mario Bros. 2, this should be Super Mario Bros. 3. Post what you think it will be.

Huh, makes sense. Never realized that until now.

Hmm...good point. Yet, what about something a bit different? Eh?

Like say we could have Link riding Epona or Midna riding wolf Link across the screen or have the magical spirit tracks train chumming across the screen?

we should be able to customize the downloading screen with various themes.....such as the examples posted by TokyoRed

How did you realize that? More like "How DIDN'T I realize that?" SMB3 would be great, but I think it may be more 64 styled as this is 3D!!

A great idea would be to have a theme based on the game you're downloading. It would make the customer appreciate what they spend their points on a little more. In other words, using points would seem a little more special.

I don't know why they made it Super Mario Bros. 2 when you can't even play SMB2 on the DSi.

Regardless, I also cannot see how they'd be able to do a Legend of Zelda download screen save for the platforming elements in the original game and Link's Awakening DX (they'd have to keep it to 8-bit since it's so insignificant).

Super Mario Bros. 3, while being unavailable on the 3DS until they rerelease Super Mario Advance 4, would continue the theme. However, considering the new "Virtual Handheld", they might want to do something with that. If they choose Super Mario Land, it'd be too much like the Wii download screen. If they choose Super Mario Land 2, it'd be like SMB3, but without the color.

We'll just have to wait and see.

They could have link goin round the screen slashiing sword it doesnt have to be sidescroller and I say the theme is different so its not as boring after a while and maybe interacting

BUY SOMETHIN WILL YA!

If the 3DS shop is really divided into folders like "Mario" and "Kirby", then perhaps each folder will have its own download screen, with SMB3 being the default to keep the tradition going.

That's also a nice idea Caliko, btw I also like your user name.

@ idk34, customization is what I'm really hoping Nintendo will go for with the Nintendo 3DS. If you're able to customize your download screen along with being able to interact (i.e. help Luigi evade the Boo's in an old mansion) with it.

If Nintendo pushes customization in various ways with the Nintendo 3DS it will help to put an even greater dent in the drum of the PSP and iPod Touch.

I'd rather have the option to download in the background instead of starting at Mario hopping around for 6 minutes because of the slow @$$ connection the built in wifi has.

Not being able to download in the background is just stupid in todays age. PSP does it too and it's annoying has heck.

I understand and respect your opinion as it is sensible. Still, I opt for the idea of having an interactive media download screen as it would again help Nintendo to continue with their "outside the box" thinking which has helped to make Nintendo the unique company that they are.

Simply imagine it, helping Link to collect fragments of an ancient sword while your game downloads or helping Pikmin restore life to a highly polluted and global warmed planet while a game is downloading. I simply like that idea. It's so different.

Wouldn't it be better...To pick a game to download, have it download in the background and play a real game? Like while waiting for Shantae 4 or something to download, you are playing Kid Icarus instead of an interactive download screen?

Sure it's neat, but I think the option to doing real things while downloading would be nice.

Sure some people like staring at the download screen. It's cute...For the first couple of times, but after download enough digital content you just get sick of it, throw it to the side and play PS3, or Wii or run up against a wall with a bucket on your head to waste time.

All I want is a screen that lets me know how far the download is with some precision. The DSiWare screen was way better than the WiiWare screen because of this. The block-jumping got old and noisy fast and didn't tell me enough about how far to completion the download was.
