A better way to Streetpass. 3dsTxt lets you type in extended greetings and allow you to meet new people locally instead of only making new friends online such as Nintendo Life. Just input your greeting and hit create and a 16-character url will pop up. Any time someone streetpasses you and checks out the streetpass gate they will see the url to then go online and see what it's all about.
Of course: DO NOT PUT IN PERSONAL INFORMATION such as your full name, address, the basics.
Give it a try. And spread the word about Nintendo Life
Another cool thing is that the person could comment on it, so you don't need to tell them your email to stay in contact or anything. It's suggested to put your Friend Code so they can then put up their owns in the comments section if you want to.
Thanks for sharing! Very cool service. Much more intuitive than the 16 character bull on 3DS. Might be awkward though if I were to StreetPass some 7 year old kid or something. lol
I don't understand the whining about "txt". The message has to fit in 16 characters. "3dstxt.com/12345" is 16 characters. If the domain name were 3dstext.com, there would only be room for 4 alphanumeric characters at the end and there could therefore only be 62 * 62 * 62 * 62 = 14,776,336 different pages, which is nowhere near enough for all the future 3DS owners. 5 alphanumeric characters allow for 916,132,832 different pages.
I think the site is a great idea. I hope they have a mechanism to prevent some jerk from writing a script to gobble up all the URLs.
I'm sure in May we'll see a Pictochat equivalent. Apparently, there's going to be a 'messaging' system as hinted by someone who worked on the features of the 3DS (tried to find a way to better word this).
