I just saw it, and I'm putting it in the OP now.
3DS' s CPU is dual core. Yep. 2x 268mhz. One core is for system software and the other for application progamming. http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Hardware

Are you sure that is true ? I thought the system stuff ran on the ARM9.
If it is there is no excuse for how bad the browser and miiverse performs. (A Strongarm RiscPC is pretty fast and has less horsepower).
The 3DS is more than powerful enough for what type of games come out on a regular basis, on portables. Whether we like it or not, smart devices are a majority of the software market, and that also means 3DS is powerful enough, because those games are pretty easy on any type of hardware.
@unrandomsam
The 3DS is probably more focused on game software than anything else. It's possible that they might be able to get it to run better, but the most likely case is that they use the processing for something else. The internet browser and Miiverse are available at all times, but ALWAYS is running other software, or has to allow that ability, so they might have made cuts in areas that they thought weren't as important. Who knows?

Ambassador games on 3DS were just quick and dirty ROMs that put the 3DS into the same GBA "mode" as the DS, meaning that it isn't emulating GBA hardware, it's simulating it. Other functions like home menu and friend lists are disabled, because your 3DS is essentially a GBA.
Also, true GBA VC may never come to 3DS because numbers game blah blah Wii U needs help with sales blah.

I don't care if it was simulating instead of emulating as long as it should be the fact that GBA games should be there on the 3DS, that's what I want.
If Nintendo is already breaking the logic to bring NES on 3DS as well as to bring Turbografx games, then they might as well port SNES games too. Don't tell me a pathetic excuse that SNES games can't be ported on the 3DS seeing as though some SNES games were properly ported to GBA.
...Wouldn't they put N64 and GC on 3DS? We already got the N64 remakes, and I can see GC being ported to 3DS if they used no 3D. Anti-aliasing could be added for less jaggies (luckily, 3ds has a good enough gpu to do that) , and it would look real nice. I can see games that aren't very CPU heavy working on 3DS. Of course, not the whole GC libary. 1-4 games or so. (Twilight Princess, As for the C stick and Z button, don't forget, there is a touch screen, and select can possibly be used too.
I really doubt it will happen, but the 3DS is capable of doing it.

The 3DS could run N64 and GC games if they are ported to 3DS but it won't be able to emulate those consoles
Does Nintendo really need to emulate the games if its powerful enough to just port them? Really why is emulation such a deal? we just want that old game on a modern system!!!!!!! XD

Because porting is harder than emulating, but emulating is more taxing on a system than a port is. You can't have it both ways, unfortunately.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Rumor has it that after doing 1000 button presses in a specific order the 3DS will reveal a laser beam capable of destroying the core of the planet.

The emulator that runs Contra III on Wii U is the same emulator that runs Mystical Ninja. They put effort torwards an emulator to run all the software of a specific category, instead of porting them individually.
They could sit there and port Punch-Out!! from NES, or they can make an emulator that recognizes NES games, in general.

Once you have an emulator running there's very little cost on adding extra games (only Q & A testing), every game that is ported is an individual investment....
