Just wanted to know them since I'm pretty clueless about them. Also do you think that 3DSWare will be be better than DSiWare or even better than the App Store?

We don't really know an awful lot about them yet. What we know it the the eShop will offer DSiWare, Virtual Console (for Game Boy and Game Boy Color games) and new downloadable software, and the the eShop, web browser and DSiWare transfer won't be available until a software update in late May.

The only DSiWare I care about at the moment is the Electroplankton ones, lol. But since I don't use those often, I'm having a hard time deciding whether to go ahead and trade in the DSi if the 3DS does hold those games...(would be easier on me money-wise, lol) Or to hold on to it...and not get store credit or whatever.

3DS ware/eShop is going to be awesome on the DSi it takes forever to switch between games, on the 3DS it's super fast! And compared to the App Store I think better cuz the App Store lets so much crap on

Nintendo lets a lot of Crap on the Wiiware and Dsiware services too. And you have to pay for them.

The App store also has 2-3 times as many great games as DSiWare.

Quanity works both ways, both good and bad.

Okay here we go, this is my knowledge on the online stuff as vaguely hinted at by Nintendo and written on various websites (deep breath)

There will be a worldwide system update in late May that will bring us the eShop. From there you will have your choice DSIware, Virtual Console Game Boy/Color games, specific Nintendo 3DS software including "3D Classics" which likely means NES/SNES games like Contra, Punch-Out, and Yoshi's Island all remastered in 3D. You'll be able to search for games from various parameters including key franchises (Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokemon etc) to find the download that's right for you. You will also be able to download demos of select DLC and watch trailers of the latest retail titles (not unlike Nintendo Channel on Wii).

The update will also include a free video app where select territories will be able to watch broadcast from Eurosport and Sky as well as ten 3D shorts of Shaun the Sheep. This app will is also likely where you'll store 3D movies.

If you're talking specifically online play that's mostly up to developers. However if a friend of yours is online while 3DS is in sleep mode and orange light will appear in the corner. Open your 3DS and you can view what game your friend is playing (maybe even his Mii) and join him online a la XBOX LIVE.

There's more info on various games that use Street/Spotpass that I know a little about so don't hesitate to ask.

BTW Your welcome.

$5 Gameboy games > $1-5 AppStore games

IMPORTANT: I'm not confirming that Gameboy games are $5. Though I feel like THAT will be their price point, possibly. We'll see come May or until Nintendo SAYS something.

You're kidding, right?

By that I mean, while Gameboy games are nice and all, they're utterly primitive. There are some seriously awesome AppStore games for less than $5 - mind you you need to actually own an iPad/ iPhone and play more than Angry Birds to find that out.

If the Gameboy games are 5 dollars consider me let down. I figured 3 or 4 for the monochrome games and 5 for color and 6 for 3D enabled games.

The Apple App Store model isn't perfect. It's cheaper but that means games have to be huge hits to make money and the huge number of apps means that it's easy for games to be lost. It's great for consumers but it's not too good for developers particularly developers of bigger games. That's why you see a lot of really simple ad supported free games.

I'd happily pay more than Angry Bird's $1.20 for a decent 3DSWare game. Bit Trip Beat costs $1.20AU on the App Store and costs $12AU on WiiWare... how many people knew it was on the App Store? Do people think the games in the Bit Trip series were worth 80 Nintendo Points? ...... I don't. I don't know about you guys but I'd happily pay $5AU for a decent Gameboy Game.

Keep in mind that GameBoy games are FULLFLEDGED games, not some 5 hr. game like alot of the DL games are.

Oh all the digital platforms I've played with. Apple, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Valve, various PC digital platforms. Nintendo's digital platform has by FAR been the worst I've ever seen.

I always felt it was a shame because there are some DSiware and WiiWare gems that are amazing, but it's swamped a horrible unbalanced crappware to good game ratio (WAY worse then the App store) and a layout and function that screams 1990 website... It's horrible.

ANYTHING Nintendo does can't be any worse then what they've already done.

However, all I'm expecting is a much improved layout and system so it's not as stupid and confusing, but I think it'll still be mostly crap and mostly overpriced.

It might not stand up to the App Store, but it will be way better than DSiWare.

I've played a lot of Game Boy games that were less than 5 hours long (including Super Mario Land).

Conversely I've played a lot of AppStore games that are massive, 'full-fledged games.'

Ok, fair call. Game Boy games harken back for a formalative era for games development, and as such are of intense historical value.

Better?

I just hope we see Super Mario World from the SNES on the VC.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

It's already on the Virtual Console. Anyways, I personally hope we get Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on the Virtual Handheld.
