Topic: 3DS XL System transfer MAJOR question!

OK... I'm thinking of buying a 3DS XL soon, and doing the system transfer.

One problem though... I use 2 SD cards. the 2GB and a 8GB I bought a year ago. They both have lots of games on them, and therefore I do not wanna lose any of them when I system transfer.

So, does anyone else who used more than one card before the system transfer had any problems? I just am worried it won't work...

Make sure you backup your SD cards to a PC and it all should run smoothly it worked for me... But everything seems to always work out good for the MABster.

I don't have a PC... I have a mac and a USB Vivitar SD card reader. I just wanna know if it'll allow 2 SD cards for the data

It'll only ask you to put one SD card in, which needs to be the card that was in the original 3DS you started the transfer from because that has more important data on it that "ties" it to the old system (not that that's permanent, but for the transfer, it's important you continue to use that card).

Whichever card you don't use could still work post-transfer, and even if it doesn't you should still be able to redownload your games from Nintendo eShop. I would honestly contact Nintendo about this as they'll no doubt have received similar queries in the past. Either email, phone or - if you can time it right - you could always live chat with the folks at the UK's Nintendo Service Centre.

The content on the SD cards of the original console will not be erased, (unless you put them on the new console before the transfer, in that case it will be formatted along with the new system). The content of all your SD cards will be safe and usable in the new 3DSS adter the transfer.

I only had the Ambassador program games and game saves to transfer over from 3DS to 3DS XL.

I had to redownload all of the content again but everything I'd downloaded - including videos and demos which I'd deleted long before the transfer - was marked as being available for download.

In the transfer process, the 3DS games' licenses are transferred, so ideally your SD cards will still work on the new 3DS

So would it work like this?

1. It transfers the Licenses
2 I put ONE SD card in when prompted
3 I can play both cards just fine?

You're going to have to redownload your games regardless, but you can keep your saves I think.

And BTW, Sorry if I seem paranoid, it's just I have a problem with this, as my 2GB SD card contains my Streetpass data, while my 8GB Contains all of my VC and retail downloads

Hmm... After looking it up some more I've been hearing that it asks during the system transfer "Any other SD cards used with this system?" Is this true

But is there proof to that? Like have you done a transfer

I already told you it would work fine, too.

I already did a transfer. The 3DS is not an evil machine that will make you redownload all your games like the DSi.
As long as you do the transfer, all your SD cards will work on that system, because they'll think it's the same system as before.

I've done the transfer, and you get your stuff back, as long as you ONLY delete the actual game files, and keep the saves only. Why are you keeping Streetpass on a seperate SD? I'm sure Streetpass is backed up onto the actual console, and will probably just format the data to the new console. It's guaranteed you'll get all your data back, as long as you do it right.

Delete the games and keep the saves? How do I do that?

I never had to redownload my games.

My old SD card worked perfectly on my new 3DS after the transfer, just like nothing ever happened.

I even cutted and pasted all it's contents to another bigger SD card later and it worked just fine.
