Topic: 3DS XL Screen Issue

I was wondering if anyone would know if Nintendo's warranty would cover an issue my cousin is having with his upper screen. It seems to be getting deep scratches on the upper screen similar to the regular sized 3DS. I also noticed when the system is open, he has deep scratches on hinge. What could be causing that, and could Nintendo even fix that? Thanks in advanced for your help.

They covered that on my original 3DS. I put screen protectors on it and the problem seems to have stopped.

@SkywardLink98 I wasn't sure if they would since the 3DS Xl wasn't supposed to have this issue. I might have to call Nintendo Monday for my cousin. Do you remember how long the repair took?

I thought they had fixed the screen scratching issues with the XL but to my surprise not totally. I also have those scratchy but not quite as bad but here they're thicker. Before it got worse I got the screen protectors. Its from carrying it around in you pocket. By itself the upper and lower screens never touch but the force of moving with it in your pocket causes them to come in contact. Its the same problem the old systems had. Since Nintendo promotes carrying it around with you I can't see how they can turn it away from being fixed. Unless it's not under warranty anymore.

I think you can find screens to just replace yourself?

@Spoony_Tech I noticed my 3DS XL has scratches on its screen protectors but they aren't as deep as my cousin's. His system should still be under warranty since he got it for Christmas. I'll give Nintendo a call and before he gets the system back, I'll buy him some good screen protectors.

@WiiULoveSquid I am sure that I could but I don't really like opening up the 3DS system and I don't know what the cost for a new screen would be. Since it should still be under warranty, I will try and get his system fixed through Nintendo.

I'm still not sure what could be causing the scratches on the inside hinge.
