I just imported a limited edition Eevee themed 3DS LL from Japan, obviously as Ninty region locked it I cannot play local games on it, my plan is to swap out the motherboard with one from this country, and as this is quite expensive I was contemplating buying a limited edition only available in this country to put the Japanese motherboard in, so someone so inclined in Japan can get the UK exclusive colour and play their own games on it too, this way I'd only end up paying for the one DS unit; anyone know of any UK exclusive 3DS XL colours that are available here but not in Japan?
Perhaps there is someone you know or someway you know of finding someone in Japan who would like to collaborate with me?
Seems risky — personally, I wouldn't want to mess with it and void the warranty, but I know what you mean. Would be an awesome project to have that as an XL instead of LL. I was considering importing one of the LLs JUST to play Japanese games, since I have an XL for everything else.
As far as I know though, they are made the same so you should be able to take everything out of that shell and put an XL into it if you want to. Just getting all the XL parts without buying one might be an issue. Pawn shops maybe?
