Different markets, different colours. I guess they know what they're doing.
You don't bring every colour combination to each region? Make your consoles region-free again, Nintendo. Then there would also be other things they could do like selling the import versions via Club Nintendo. But if that makes any business sense is another question.
There is no logic in not having neutral colors (silver/black) at launch.
It surprises me how much the 3DS looks better colored but the XL looks better in Black or Silver.
But different peoples opinions on what is Neutral colours... Silver / Blacks systems have always seemed more geared towards the male audience whereas the the white 3DS seems to be the most Neutral here (and it comes with the Mario game which is also pretty neutral) whereas black 3DS bundles were with streetfighter and the Pink with Nintendogs.

I won't be at all surprised if the same happens here, perhaps as a Black Friday release for us in the NA (not sure if Europe also enjoys/endures Black Friday or not).
Some places have started doing it but only in the last two years and not very many... usually online retailers like Play.com and Amazon.

Well I paid off my red 3DS XL today at GameStop. The blue looks nice, but it's a brighter blue. The red seems to have a deep richness to it. Like a maroon or wine color. I would have gotten the blue if it was a darker blue like the DS XL midnight blue. So now that the easy part is done, and my color picked out, I'm focusing on having some games to play. I have purchased Mario 3d land, resident evil revelations, and mariokart 7. I also have a preorder in for Super Mario Bros 2 on release day. So I won't need to purchase anything else until Luigi Dark Moon, Castlevania, and Lego LOTR :->
Would have loved to see the Silver option release in NA, I can understand why they do exclusive colors but why hold out with the Silver in the USA. It's the classier color for older fans that don't want a flashy colored handheld ( nothing wrong with Red or Blue ).
