Topic: 3ds XL

nintendo should make the next handheld the XL version of the 3ds, I think it would be awsome to watch the big screen in 3d and when you chat with people, you don't have to write in such a small space.

As much as my tired eyes would like it, I don't see it happening ever. The battery would last for an hour and a half, and a bigger 3D "sweet spot" would be difficult to maintain.

Bigger handheld = Less appeal

They made the DS lite because smaller was better. I still don't know why they made the DSi XL... My favorite thing about the 3DS is that it's the same size as the DS lite.

The reason i purchased the DS Lite/3DS is because it was lightweight and i can carry it around everywhere. The DSi XL was just stupid and we don't need a 3DS XL.

oh yes we do! I have terrible eyesight and a lot of trouble using smaller displays, i cant play lots of games on the standard DSi screen because i just cant make out everything on the screen. The XL was a gift from heaven for me and lots of other older players

That seems like an unintended benefit of the system... I don't think that was their original intention for it to be used... but nice anyways. I never thought of the larger display that way!

if its bigger i expect circle pad pro built in,longer battery life and features many people wanted

I'm a younger gamer but I have terrible eyesight and when the XL came out I bought it ASA I could it was ai much easier to use and see what the games I owned said before the XL I had to get my parents to read the game to me but when the XL came out I didn't have to worry about that so I hope a 3ds XL comes out and soon

I think that was exactly the intention of the XL — to appeal to an older demographic, who either have problems with the smaller screens or just the smaller size of the system in general.

That was actually exactly the reason it was made. In Japan, Nintendo marketed the XL to older people as a bigger DSi to see stuff on screen easier. The first commercials had an older person playing a game on it along side a younger person in a nice sunset setting.

I still miss my XL. Big screen and long battery life were really great. If Nintendo ever releases a 3DS XL, I would buy it at day one.

Wouldn't surprise me if it happened it's obvious Nintendo is running out of ideas, eh let them just copy some old junk of theres that failed, genius Nintendo don't step outside of your lame firewood box.

For me the DSiXL is the best Nintendo console in the last 10 years, but certainly it will require a much much better battery.

3DS is portable, is any bigger it will fall out of your pocket more(ive already needed my 3ds fixed because it fell out of my pocket too much.)also the DSiXL cost $20 more than the DSi and all it was was bigger. Nothing else; no new tech,no new built-in software, basically the same. Nintendo would be wasting its time to make a bigger 3DS and as stated earlier in this topic, it would be harder for them to make a bigger 3D screen. That's why the 3DS came out faster than a no-glasses 3d TV; less screen size. Also, yes, the already bad battery would be terrible. No, Nintendo is going to wait until at least next year before moving to the next 3DS. Then they will be able to make a longer-lasting battery and a thinner, lighter 3DS and they will add new built-in data for it. First they will make sure the Wii U is on the right track so they don't end up with the 3DS problem at the beginning.

Well, the moral is: don't carry your 3DS in your pocket! lol

I don't think they want to make another handheld until the next generation comes around, and by then the 3DS will be outdated (and obsolete) tech.

Yeah, when you look at reviews for the DSi XL a lot of them are from parents and older gamers interested in playing with their children.

OOT, for example, was designed for the TV and many details cannot be appreciated in a so small screen (even having so poor textures), it doesnt matter how good your sight is. Sony decided to follow the way of the biggest screens, lets see how many millions of users dont consider its size any obstacle (including myself) and I'm pretty sure Sony dindnt have the granpas in mind when designing it.

Meh. One of the things Nintendo advertised with the DSiXL was that people around you can see the screen, and reviewers agreed this is for people who like playing at home. The 3D, and the Streetpass feature makes it hard for the idea to be XL'd however, Nintendo said it would be difficult to make it lite as well.
