Topic: 3DS Worth Buying?

I am interested in a 3DS. I had my DS Lite back in 2008 when I was 11 and used to play Pokemon Diamond all the time and it was an amazing game. I still miss that feeling of capturing a rare pokemon or mine evolving. It brings back old memories. Does the 3DS deliver the greatness the DS had? Is the 3DS better than the 3DS XL? Idk I kinda like the regular old DS screen size but is bigger better? Also, are the 3D pokemon games good cuz I've played the 2D ones only.

Since this is a Nintendo-centric site, the answer is obviously: Yes, very much worth it.

As for 3DS, I'd recommend you either get the regular 3DS or wait for the New3DS. 3DSXL has issues with screen size, since the image looks more pixelated or stretched, especially with DS games. The size of the 3DSXL itself can become a problem, but that depends on how you transport it. You'd also have to buy a separate charging cable, since it's not included with a 3DSXL.
The regular 3DS has one major flaw: the frame of the lower screen presses against the top screen when you close it, causing scrathes over time. To prevent that, you'd either need to buy screen protectors or keep the protection foil in the package.

The Pokémon games are highly recommended, since the jump to 3DS brought in some nice changes overall, though that's objectively speaking.

The 3DS has got me interested again. What are the best pokemon games for it? Is Mario Kart 7 good?

Well, both Pokémon X/Y and the upcoming OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire are great Pokémon games, but I'll recommend you get X/Y first, then follow it up with OR/AS. The reason is simple: new Pokés. Gen6 doesn't have too many new ones, but they make quite an impact on the presentation. Starting out with them will give you a good feel for the changes and additions, while OR/AS will give you an expanded adventure of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, but with less focus on Gen6.

Pokémon Rumble is a nifty game, but a spin-off in full effect, and one that is over a bit too quickly. It's a brawler with pretty big armies of toy Pokémon smacking each other to annihilation.
What I'd advise you to stay away from buying right away is Pokémon Mystery Fungeon: Gates to Infinity. I found the game to be extremely slow and boring, so I can only advise you try the demo before anything else.
Pokémon Link! Battle is terrible, though. It's boring, repetitive, and terribly designed.

About Mario Kart 7: I personally found it a bit lacking in single player, but it's by no means bad in and around itself. Note, however, that it's much more fun in multiplayer.
But thst's the issue: Mario Kart 7 has terrible online. Ghosting (players appear/disappear), random item fails and disconnects come up rather often, and it gets annoying pretty fast. Nonetheless, it's probably the best racer on 3DS, so if you liked Mario Kart Wii, you'll like this one.

I have a 3DS XL and I honestly don't get this "stretched pixels" argument. I see no such thing.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Some see it, some don't.
Think of it like this: remember the way GBA supported GB/GBC games? You could press the otherwise useless shoulder buttons to either keep the regular aspect ratio, or enlarge it to fit the whole screen. Now, imagine playing Pokémon Crystal on a GBA, but always with standard screen. But after playing like that for about a year, you accidentally press the shoulder buttons, and BOOM! Everything is suddenly out of proportion.

A bit long-winded, I know, but the general gist is that it depends on what you're used to. I'm very used to small resolution and small screens, which is why the sudden increase in size everywhere is irritating me, and this irritation shifts my focus to look for the oddity - which I find in stretched visuals, more visibly jagged models and graphics, as well as odd proportions.
The stretch is bearable, but it's visible to anyone who played long enough with a regual 3DS.

Meh. The image isn't quite as sharp on an XL, but the 3D effect is more impressive, and you don't have to squint when playing games like Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Smash. Also, the build quality is MUCH better on the XL. It has a normal, non-telescoping stylus that is located on the side as opposed to the back of the device like the original model. Also, the original 3DS had this horrendous glossy exterior that got smudged whenever you touched it, whereas the XL has a lovely matte finish.

Also, the XL's larger image looks nothing like the horrible full-screen mode on the GBA with GB/GBC games.

I recommend waiting for the New 3DS. The top screen with be slightly larger than the original model, the build quality and finish on the exterior are superior, and it is a LOT faster than any of the previous models.

For what it's worth, I find the 3DS library to be weaker than what DS offered. There isn't as much third party support, so even though 3DS has a handful of great games it doesn't compare to the broad variety that DS received. That said, I still think a 3DS is worth owning - and being fully backwards compatible means that any great DS games you might have missed will still be playable.

My preference currently is owning a 3DS XL because the build quality is simply better than what the original 3DS models offer, but if you are thinking of buying now then wait to see when the New 3DS models are coming out. When that happens, you'll have a choice of getting the "latest and greatest" or will likely find older versions at a discounted price.

Most 3DS games have little to no replay value compared to DS games. I played Pokemon Diamond for 150 hours, and Since I got a DSTWO supercard I've continued my save file. I'm at 199:49 now, almost at 200 and still find it fun. Pokemon Y, on the other hand... Bleh, I can't even make myself get the 3rd badge.

Imo, If you ignore the nostalgia factor the 3ds is the best handheld ever created.
