@waveboy

you keep going on and on and on about the brightness/temperature thing. we get that you are a bit of a snob when it comes to things like that (you go on and on and on about TV resolutions etc...c'mon, you know you do ;-)).

the fact of it is that most of us are more than happy with the 3DS XL, including the brightness (which is adjustable like always) and either don't have the temp issues on ours or don't notice it. i'm a freakin' artist and it doesn't bother me a bit.

you love the sparkly, layer cake finish on the original. again, we get it. but the XL doesn't look cheap in comparison, it just doesn't drive us nutz with fingerprints/smudges.

i got my 7-yr old grandson a 3DS for christmas. it felt so uncomfortable and just so much 'less' than my XL that it just made me love my XL more.

different strokes. but i think you are making too much of the brightness/temp thing and may put people off who wouldn't notice a difference.

I have done a side x side comparison with me black original and the silver XL and can't see a difference in brightness and I also only have the XL on 2 sometimes 3 while playin' games and 1 with powersave on while using apps... But the main thing is yo since getting the WiiU the old 3DS has hit the dusty shelf and only gets turned on once in a while to delete swapnote spam or play some RE Mercs/Revelations online + occasional VC ;)

I think 3DS XL is better in every way. I like the bigger size for how big my hands are. I just always think how making the device bigger is better for adults, vs, the smaller one for kids. The regular 3DS always dug into my hands, and seemed to be too small for me to grasp quite right. The 3DS feels way heavier at first, but I got used to it pretty quick.
I got rid of my other 3DS and just stuck with XL, because I didn't really have a use for 2.
I did notice the differences, but 3DS XL wins completely to me.

The only thing I miss about the XL, is the glossy casing. They went from matte to gloss with DSi XL, and glossy to more matte like on 3DS XL. Hmmm...

As much as I miss my old flame red 3DS, I don't think I could go back to it after I replaced it with the XL. Bigger screen, matte finish and heavily reduced glare were the most important improvements for me. I agree that the XL looks like it's part of the DSi family but I don't take that as a bad thing. DSi was my favourite design. ;)

@Mad_Aussie
I did some more comparisons, before boxing my XL back up(taking it back tee hee)...And you're right there is no real difference and if there is it's extremely minimal in terms of brightness when you're comparing it to a 3DS without the 3DS's charger plugged in.

People that have complained about brightness issues with the XL most likely have a neautral temp 3DS which actually looks brighter because the whites are whiter, where as the XL's temp is more on the warm side.Anyways, Once you plug the adapter/charger into your regular 3DS and you side it with the Xl, the brightnes increase will bcome obvious along with richer colors! combine that with a neutral temp 3DS and it blows the XL's picture quality out of the water.

I still think XL is better. I compared the 2 before I got rid of my regular 3DS, and I was surprised they were able to fit the original 3DS in the case it had. My comparisons didn't show any color difference really.
I still say 3DSXL is more fit for adults, while 3DS is fit for your 'mini-me'.
XL all the way!

I havea ? since we're talking about 3DS vs 3DS XL. Not to go off topic- sorry, but I just recently set mine up that's been sitting a while upon waiting to see what'd happen with the CPP XL, and I just recently imported 1, although that has nothing to do with what i wanna ask. My bigger thing here is with the 3d screen.....While the slider does respond to the 3D screen check, i dunno maybe it's just with certain games, but has anyone ever noticedany double vision, even with the 3D turned down/off? I 'd booted up kid Icarus: Uprising, and I couldn't tell whether or not the slider was even making any difference, granted sometimes it's hard to judge the right angle and viewing difference Any ideas?

Is the slider making a click sound when you turn it all the way off? If not, then you aren't turning it all the way off. Also, the 3DS can't be too far or too close to your face for the 3D to work.. For me personally I can see double if I go to max 3D without easing myself into it(going half way for a while to let me eyes adjust before going max).

I can go max 3D all day. As long as it's not too bright that is. I never really had a problem with 3D things. I can play all the games full 3D as long as the game doesn't require the motion control where I'm moving it around. The 3DS XL 3D effect is harder to see compared to the regular IMO, but I think the XL is better overall in every way.

There never was a click sound on either my XL or original 3DS 3D slider, so i dunno what you mean by that. I mean I can tell it's working, but wasn't exactly the reason I was asking this. again, as I mentioned iw as trying to do this with kid icarus: uprising, but just on the title screen, options, how to videos, and it didn't seem to be making the adjustments, which i find odd because all my other games seem fine. So yeah, i have no idea if the 3D just isn't adjustable for bits in the game or what....honestly doesn't make any sense to me unless I have a weird copy, is kinda what I'm trying to find out. Kinda don't wanna start my game only to find out the 3D won't do anything, plus the double vision problem, which i guess i stil have to figure theright angle and viewing distance.

Quicknote...guess i enver realizedit, was just messing with it again, I did find the little click, and I think I figured it out, the depth does work in the game, though i still find it odd just not on the title screen.

I have a 3DS and a 3DS XL, but they are not using the same nintendo account.
I want to transfer the games from my 3DS XL to my 3DS but I want to keep my 3DS nintendo account, will this be possible?

I wish I had a 3DS XL instead of a regular one tbh.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I had a regular and sold it after I got my XL. Huge difference. As an adult man, I have much bigger hands than a young person, so even the bigger case does fit into my hands better. But it´s still a little to small, so I´m really happy that Nintendo will finally start to sell the XL Circle Pad Pro. Size does matter!

Most people seem to prefer that XL but I'm sticking with my Cosmo black 3ds. I love it. I love the gloss the shape the size. I don't want to trade the pros for a hit on resolution/ppi especially since I find the graphics to be smooth and perfect and don't want to suddenly feel that there is a problem with the resolution. They also says that the sound is stronger in 3ds.

But if they bring a black version to the u.s I will consider in the future but not a simple choice for me.
