Okay to anyone who has had a previous XL and has gotten the new Black XL, is the screen brighter? Nintendo likes to do the tiny running changes on there stuff sometimes, and there was a report of the new black XL being slightly brighter than original XLs.
would anyone with the newest XL and an older XL (perhaps a limited edition one like pikachu) shed some light on this?
Looks like the XL won this thread the same as the other 10 threads before this one. If you check-out the sales comparison between them you will find the XL way out in front. XL is the main reason why the system has picked up in sales... It's a no brainer
Here's another thing to back the XL is better side: Notice how just about every 3ds commercial now has the Xl model showcased? Even nintendo knows its better.

Bump, still wondering if anyone would compare the two?
I say take the plunge and don't worry about it. Thats just me

Of course nintendo is going to back the more expensive cost effective XL. Its a no brainer. Doesn't mean they think its better. Just better for them!
The only reason 3DS XL wins the thread, is because most people who changed (or "upgraded" from 3DS to XL), will never admit that their previous console had advantages. It's cognitive dissonance. Both consoles are selling, both have advantages and disadvantages and Nintendo profits from both. Personally I will one day check the black 3DSXL and until then I'm with Cosmo Black all the way.
@dumedum I agree with your statement. However the larger screen and little bit better battery life win it out for me. Even if the original 3ds has a slightly better brightness setting doesn't do it for me. Plus I usually play with no sound anyways so that part doesn't bother me. The feel of the system is also a big advantage. I personally could never go back to those tiny screens again. I've been spoiled!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I have never thought the image looked pixelated. Yes there might be a slight difference in some games but the bigger screen more then off sets any loss in sharpness.
Plus the difference is so small most people won't ever see it and those that might see it will forget about it after about 2 days like I did! XL wins always in my book. I do like the look of the original but the feel of the XL!
I get hand cramps when I try and use the regular 3DS. Terribly small device. That's why I picked the XL. The sound quality is very high on the XL too, I've not had a single issue with that.
