it depends how much money you can get for your old 3DS, 3DS XL is better but not $200.00 better, if you can sell your original 3DS for $150.00 then extra $50.00 for XL may be worth it

I traded my original in and got an XL and love everything about it. No regrets. But it depends on how much you can get for it. But XL is a very solid upgrade from the original 3ds everything's better about it. Bigger screen (makes the experience waaay better imo.) better battery life and better 3D (more depth) so I would say upgrade. Its very worth it.

See I thought it would b better that's why asking iv seen alot off good press bout it but then also when looked in 2 it seen people saying that coz bigger screen graphics look worse as its just same pixels stretched iv only had a quick shot in store with mario kart looked good 2 me but I'd like 2 see it side by side with same game lol as they had standard ds next 2 it playing mario tennis. Like first comment is it worth the extra when mine is fine as is I just thought bigger had 2 b better lol

I don't think the games look any worse on the XL than the original 3DS but tha'ts just my opinion. But I def suggest you invest in the XL.

Don't no if want 2 part with my 3ds u see seen as the one iv got is no longer available so I'd most likely not b trading in and having 2 pay full price got the money there but it could b used for the wiiU that I would like

3DS XL is A LOT better. It's more comfortable, has bigger screens, longer battery time etc. I love it. The visuals doesn't suffer at all IMO.

I didnt think it looked worse what I got 2 play either lol just trying 2 find out if I can justify upgrading on something that iv got which is just smaller and works fine or spend on a wiiU

i just got my upgraded from my 3ds to a 3dsxl a week ago. I'm very happy with it, and got 75$ for my 3ds, which isn't bad. @ferthepoet, you will never get 150.00 dollars for a 3ds. that's almost what it's worth in the first place!

I just ordered a 3ds xl, never owned an original 3ds. After spending almost an entire day watching comparisons on youtube I decided to spend the extra cash for the xl. It just seemed better in every way. I do like the look of the original 3ds more but the xl seems to fix a lot of problems with functionality, ergonomics, glare, and as for possible negatives, a somewhat more pixelated image won't bother me. and anyway most people say it's hardly noticeable.

But now I'm having second thoughts cause I'm so stingy I always try to go for the cheaper option in everything! I had found a brand new 3ds for 150$ including taxes and shipping! But in the end I went against my normal instincts. Please tell me I made the right choice in the long run in spending the extra 50$ or so! money which could have gone towards another game or two.

Well, anyway, I hope it arrives soon. can't wait to check it out!

The 3DS xl is a must

You can barely enjoy games on the regular 3ds because of how tiny the screen is

If you troll and bash a system you claim you don't want then why are you paying attention to it?

S20TEW

I love my standard one screens are fine IMO just liked the idea of a bigger one dut don't no if I can justify trading in and the extra cash or buying outright when the Money can go toward the wiiU u on my wish list reason saying not trade is no longer get the version (colour) of 3ds iv got so dont think I'd get rid now but would like a XL b giving up the chance of the wiiU for the moment tho so that's why asking can I justify it ? Thanks for all the comments tho all the same

I have both versions (gave the original to my fiancee) and I gotta say, once you spend a certain amount of time on a 3DS XL, you'll wonder how you even played on the original one in the first place. At least, that's how it was for me. I agree with ted-k, the original 3DS looks better than the XL. It's much more sleek looking. However, since you're looking to buy a Wii U, I would probably just go with that so you can have both systems rather than just have the XL which plays the games you're playing now.

Other thread kinda died when I asked on it, so I'll just ask it here. I heard that the XL deals with glares better than the original 3DS. Like, how does the screen look outside? (because on my regular 3DS its hard to see when you're out. :/ )

In my opinion, the XL is much better, and I've had both.

-Better Battery
-Bigger Screens
-Top screen is less reflective
-More comfortable
-Hinge is more sturdier
-Matte finish prevents smudges
-The 3D slider now can be 'switced off' completely by pushing the slider down until it clicks.

Wished I had one to compare the two outside...because if I can see my games a lot better outside on the XL, I may consider getting one. (since other than that my original 3DS is perfectly fine. The sunlight is the only thing that bothers me even when in the car, lol)

I traded my 3DS in and added 50 euros and now I have a XL. It's way bigger. You should get it.

...I have both. I can't imagining giving up/trading one of my handhelds...maybe my Gamegear. Anyway,

Personally I prefer the 3DS XL, the larger screen and better battery life is a must have.

I have an XL because my vision is terrible, and the tiny screen strains my eyes.
