If Nintendo's gonna make a new Mario game using Super Mario World's gameplay engine, I don't want it to be a remake, I want it to be a brand new game with new levels, more power-ups, and more focusing on Yoshi.

I didn't find the multiplayer in NSMBW to be amazing, but if they were to bring multiplayer to this game, or any mario sidescroller platformer on the 3DS, it would probably be A LOT better than NSMBW because it wouldn't have that annoying camera panning.

That's exactly what I mean. A reinvention, not a remake. Thus the title of the thread. I posted this using my Wii! :3
If they made a true sequel to SMW using graphics like the Wii Wario Land, I would be a happy man. The overworld layout in SMW is the best of all the Mario games, in my opinion, and should be used more.
A follow up to Super Mario World in some form is what I'm hoping for from the next New Super Mario game (and they kinda owe it to Yoshi after the scant attention they gave him in NSMBWii).
And if Nintendo follows script, it makes sense for the next NSMB to resemble SMW. NSMBWii was quite a bit like Super Mario Bros. 3, with the airships and Koopa Kids. Going by NSMBDS=Super Mario Bros. and NSMBWii=Super Mario Bros. 3 (yeah, they skipped a game being like SMB2 USA), they the next game would follow in the footsteps of Super Mario World! I agree with ones who'd like to see Super Mario World 3 at long last, but I'll take what I can get!
Would love to see the cape powerup from SMW return, along with tanooki, raccoon and hammer bros. suit (although I guess the cape would replace the need for tanooki and racoon... still).
While I'd like to see NSMB3DS resemble SMW, I'm sure I'll be happy with what Miyamoto-san and company put together, whatever it is!
