Topic: 3DS Software Library Overflow!?

Has anybody filled up or at least gotten close to filling up the software library in the 3DS activity log? I counted and I have 64 more open slots in the software library. I probably won't have to worry about filling up mine for at least a few more years but I'm dying to know what happens if you do. I think it would either A. prompt you to delete one or B. unlock an extra page for use.

Wouldn't it be awesome if you got some sort of kill screen? lol

Or maybe there will be a buffer overflow and it will say you've played -63 games. Maybe its like and odometer and it will roll over to 0 putting it back to a new state.

If you fill up your Activity Log, you may have to clear out some titles from the list to make room for others. I don't know. Perhaps part of the eShop update (or another future one) will allow you to store and stream this data from an SD card. Don't rule it out. Nintendo has (and probably will) do something about this problem only a few of us OCD gamers will care about.

Exactly.

I think a simple update could fix any problem

It deletes your old data, starting with the oldest.

Maybe you can make some room in an sd card in an update

@ First question asked
How could anybody fill it up? There isn't even enough software to fill up half of it as yet! C'mon! D:<

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

According to the 3DS's Operations Manual, "You can record up to 256 different software titles. If this number is exceeded, records will be deleted, beginning with the oldest."

Also, the pedometer log can apparently save up to about ten years of data.

You know what, you're totally right. I can't believe I didn't think about that.

Ten years as in walking X steps every day for ten years or simply taking at least one step every year for ten years? Er, think Ten Year is long enough.

@Buster13: Well, 256 is the number of slots that exist in the book, so that means there are no pages to add.

Of course, realistically, it would take AGES to run past that number. I've had my PS3 for almost three years and I've got under half that many titles racked up on my Trophy list. So I think 256 should really be plenty. If you do manage to get up there, just start deleting games you didn't really like to save space. Actually, I intend to do that anyway, because I'm obsessive like that.

EDIT: One thing did just occur to me that I'm curious about...when they say it'll delete the oldest records, does that mean oldest relative to when you FIRST played a game, or relative to when you most recently played? I would guess the latter...it'd certainly make more sense...

To when you first played I believe.

@Retro_on_theGo: Well, that sounds like a pretty stupid way to do it. I suppose I wouldn't put it past Nintendo, though. All the more reason to manage your list before it comes to that, eh?

Yeah I guess. You do have the option to stop it and choose which game you want to get rid of instead. So it's understandable.

haha it's cool that this keeps DS game records unlike how the Wii doesn't keep GCN game records.

To be fair, though, 256 IS an incredibly large number, and it will definitely take a while to amass a collection that large. But if you do happen to collect that many games soon, you can always start by deleting the pointless stuff like the Health and Safety Information. :3
