Not surprising, it's been a system seller since Wild World and seems to get more popular with each iteration.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear that the 3DS moved a ton of units this week. Four people from my own family bought the system over the last year and a half (including one this week) specifically for this game.

... I can't believe.. This game of all games is a system seller. Let alone of that calibur.

Animal Crossing is a game that appeals to almost everybody, casual and hardcore gamers alike.

true.. but its still a niche game.. sort of like harvest moon.. those kind of number (4x) is what i would expect of a zelda.. not animal crossing

I'm pretty sure after Wild World this became factually untrue.
BTW the game outsold the Wolrdwide sales of OoT 3D whilst released only in Japan.

If this is true, then why didn't Nintendo launch the Wii U with Animal Crossing U?

Animal Crossing is a strong property, on handhelds.
To me there are other strengths they could have played to, a Zelda at launch for instance.

It's a well developed sandbox game, and it's aimed at people of all ages/interests. If you broaden your target audience, of course you're going to get more sales: Just look at Sims, Minecraft, Plants VS Zombies, Zelda, etc.

Stay safe, kids: Make sure to save frequently during multiplayer, and always use a stylus!

Hmm, we got tons of calls about it at the Wally World I work at. I've gotten a lot of tags recently (I bring my 3DS with me to work for lunch & breaks) and they've all been from lady Miis that were playing AC

This is an entirely unscientific analysis of course but I'd say that this game definitely moved some consoles

Where's the KABOOM?! There was supposed to be an earth-shattering KABOOM! sigh delays...delays...
