Topic: 3DS Repairs in Europe

Has anyone had any experience in getting a 3DS repaired or replaced by Nintedo of Europe?

My left shoulder button has pretty much stopped working completely. I've suspected it was faulty for a little while now, but it's almost impossible to play Ocarina of Time on it now.

Obviously, I want it repaired. I suspect, it is more likely it will get replaced and I'm worried about all my downloaded software and the cash balance I have on the eShop. I seem to remember Nintendo weren't particularly good at understanding that people don't like to lose their purchases when hardware dies back in the Wii/DSi early download days. Has this improved with the 3DS? Has anyone had their system repaired/replaced by Nintendo in Europe?

It might be worth checking the shoulder button of your 3DS before you send it in. Mine stopped working a few weeks ago but someone on this forum suggested that it might be due to dust accumulating inside the shoulder button. After blowing into it for a minute or so it started to work again. I'm not sure if this is the problem with your 3DS but definitely worth a try.

I would send my 3DS in but I asked them this question:

"Can you guarantee my saved data, DSiWare and Ambassador titles along with my eShop credit, won't be erased?"

Their reponse:

"Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee these won't be erased." along with some other crap.

Well... stuff that then. If your 3DS comes up a cropper, don't send it to Nintendo, they can delete your stuff for you...

@Chozo85 - Thanks for that! It worked! I didn't expect it to at all, being a terrible pessimist, but now my shoulder button is as good as new. Thanks again.

Very disappointed that Nintendo don't seem to have got very customer friendly with their digital customers yet.
