I was thinking about the problems the 3ds cpuld have. I for one will not stand if the shoulder buttons are just like the one on the dsi and the stop working after a year.

The games worth waiting for are the best kinds.

It could have a bug similar to that of "The Red Ring of Death"
I highly doubt it will have such a chronic overheating problem

I imagine that the sweet spot, kids under seven using and the thin stylus will be the biggest problems.

But atleast now I have exuses to not let the kiddies on the bus use my "new shiny thing we'll probably get buggers on"

Lets take his leather pants.

I'm sure there are technical limitations that people haven't seen yet because honestly, no one has had a decent amount of time with the tech but I guess we'll find out by the years end or shortly after.

I mean who knows, it could have the same inducing headaches as the virtual boy.

perhaps it could have screens that shatter as soon as you tap them with the stylus. it could fall apart if you open it up flat. the 3D screen could screw up your eyes somethin' fierce. the sound could go haywire if you plug in headphones, damaging your hearing if you try to play with them on. 'could, could, could'... we'll never know anything about any problems for real until we've had a chance to handle a 3DS for ourselves.

There have been a few substantive complaints based on the E3 model (which may not be final), although none of these makes me any less excited.

  • D-pad location is odd
  • the stylus is pulled from the top-back rather than the side, which is much less convenient if you're like me and draw it out quickly in certain contexts (ie., when entering the puzzle mode in Henry Hatsworth)
  • the screen sizes and resolutions may make backwards-compatibility less than optimal
  • a bit fatter and less portable

I noticed that the headphones port lacked an audio auxiliary input port (for a microphone) unlike all previous DS designs

@proto: it's not like they really used or promoted that external microphone thing all that much, though, so i think taking that feature out is just another step in the DS's evolution. :3

1. I completely agree with the first especially if we have t use it for DS games. However if we can use the slider for Ds games I'll play super mario 64 a lot more.
2. Stylus pulled from back isn't really a big deal to me I don't really care which side it's on.

3. I was concerned about not sure how they'll deal with this one.

4. And I don't really care how big it is just so it'll fit in my pocket :)

Also, the 0.3 megapixel cameras? Come on Nintendo, you can do better than that!

this i agree with. with all they were talking about wanting the DSi to be a kind of companion accessory, something you'll carry with you all the time and bust out at any occasion to show off to your friends and have fun, the crappy camera really hindered that goal. i really wish they'd'a' bothered to add better cameras instead of just adding a third one to the mix :(

The mind-bogglingly small touch screen disturbs me deeply.

Yea the smaller touch screen makes me wonder if that means it will be used less, or atleast be a less integral part of most games, it will be interesting to see how it pans out. I cant wait for the 3DS man I haven't been this excited in a while when it comes to gaming.

To each his own.

  • I honestly think the D-pad could work fine. If you got your DS Lite/i, just pretend to play like the D-pad is under the actual D-pad. It doesn't really feel that much cramp. Feels a little like the D-pad on the GCN controller, which isn't that uncomfortable.
  • The stylus will bother me, since I like to be able to whip it out fast, and with the DS Lite/i, it's already under the palm of your hand, so I hope they relocate it.
  • They could do like the GB/C worked on the GBA. Have black borders around it. I mean DS games don't have to fill the WHOLE 3DS screen....does it? O.o
  • Well, it's smaller than the DSi XL and the PSP, so if those are (sorta) portable, then this on is more (sorta) portable. :D

OH! and I hope they add a flash to the cameras, since that made some DSiWare games like WarioWare Snapped! suck.

As to the bigger screen size and backwards compatableness, I don't think that will be a problem. The game will just not be widescreen and there will be black on the edges.

@theblackdragon It worked for me. I still show it off to just about everyone I meet. The kaleidoscope and music player are great for the easily entertained. They probably failed with most people though

True. I never needed that dinky headset for Pokemon anyway because the internal microphone is fine for voice chat.

I kinda like the throwback with the 3DS bringing the stylus slot to the back, but I have gotten used to whipping it out on the side of the DS Lite/DSi. Anyways, it's no biggie, I can just retrain myself by taking it from the back of my original DS.

I have to say though, this ticked me off the most because I wanted Nintendo to bump up the MP on the cameras. 0.3 MP 3D pictures won't be so hot unless the lighting is near-flawless.
