Why in the world do DS games look so awful on the 3DS? I was at my friend's house and we were both playing TWEWY. I looked on his 3DS and saw compared to my DSi XL, it looked all blurry. I thought maybe it was because the screen was smaller, but then I remembered my DS lite looks sharp and crisp playing TWEWY, or any other game for that matter. My friend obviously didn't care too much but to me that is kind of a big deal. Good thing I am keeping by beautiful DSi XL when I get the 3DS. On a random sidenote, I noticed that the DSs got better screen as they release completely new system or even just a minor update. I noticed compared to later DS lites, my limited edition Dialga/Palkia one has a screen that is slight blueish and purplish color. So is there any reason why DS games look so bad on the 3DS?

It's the resolution. I can't tell the difference unless I compare them side by side, so it doesn't bother me. You can shrink it down to the original resolution by pressing start + select when you start the game (I think? Haven't tried it myself), but then it's a lot smaller.

i didnt noticed they looked bad...
it really varies from games to another.

surprisingly, TWEWY didnt look bad to me. like Rift said, you cant see much difference unless you compare side by side.
or if you played the game so much that your eye is impregnated with the game.

it did this with picross 3D. it looked so blurry at first, it was bad. real bad. with disapointment and all.

but its a thing that i think it could be fixed with updates. they gotta find a way to make the video chipset to display resolution differently. This reminds me the world of emulation (especially playstation!) where the solution was to have different video settings for every games.

With some DS games you can hardly tell the difference in quality between playing them on the 3DS or any previous DS. DS games played on the 3DS will always look a little worse though, because of the resolution. It's normal.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Ever played a DS game on a DS and a DS game on a 3DS side by side? You can tell the difference then. It's not much; I don't really care about it, but I can see how it can irritate others.

just hold down select before starting the game

I haven't seen any difference with Might & Magic (my most played game on 3DS). I play the multiplayer mode almost every day with my siblings and they have DS Lite. I put them side by side and didn't notice anything.

It's its, not it's.

Its true that DS games looked kind of bad on 3DS....until the eShop update. With that update Nintendo somehow, magically made DS games look dramatically better than before on the 3DS screen. I don't know how they did it but they did and I'm one happy camper
