Sorry in advance if the channel is wrong, but im new here.
I'm also new to nintendo and I'm wondering which console should i go first with (my last big N console was GBA).
I was preparing myself to buy new 3ds when it's released in EU, but I would be playin most time at home, so I thought 'maybe better idea will be Wii U.
What I'm looking for are good platformers (I'm huge fan of Rayman Origins and Legends) and Zelda games. RPGs not necessarily. I heard that mario games are superior on wii u, thats why i started to think about this console.
Which one would be better choice for me?
p.s. the only ds game i played is Ghost Trick and i loved it.

Well, before everyone is going to suggest their favourite games; I'd like to advise you to watch some trailers. Compare the games, and see which games you are more interested in. Both systems have their Mario and Zelda games, so I'm sure there's something for you on either system. Besides, there's also backwards compatibility, so even if you're mainly interested in platformers, there's plenty to choose from. I think both are excellent systems, you can't go wrong with either of them.

The Wii U platformers are 60fps which is much better. (Unless you want to play at snails pace).

Stuff like NSMB2 isn't quite right (i.e grabbing ropes etc is less intuitive).

In that case, Wii U would probably be your main console. New Super Mario Bros. U, Mario 3D World, Rayman Legends, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Shovel Knight on the eShop, and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is coming out next month. The 3DS also has Shovel Knight and New Super Mario Bros. 2, if I remember correctly.

The Wind Waker remake is currently on the Wii U with the fantastic Dynasty Warriors spin-off Hyrule Warriors also available. Zelda U is coming out this year. The 3DS has a few more Zelda games. Ocarina of Time 3D, A Link Between Worlds, Majora's Mask 3D (coming out next month). The 3DS has a lot of RPGs so if you're looking for a lot of Zelda games and no RPGs at all, then Wii U is the one to go with. 3DS does have both Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi though.

That would be true.

Thanks for the answer. I did watch some trailers before and still its hard choice. No doubt 3ds has more games i'd like to try, but wiiu games seem to be more complex.
1.Would You buy 3ds as home console only?
2.Which one You prefer, portable Mario/Zelda or wii version.

If you're mostly going to play at home, then WiiU is a safe investment considering the genres you're after. WiiU has the best selection of platformers on the market (and if you add Wii, WiiWare and Virtual Console compatibility, it has the greatest selection of platformers ever), and a gran total of 9 Zelda games to choose from. If you're new to Nintendo, WiiU is a much better starting point since it plays all the legendary stuff you need and more (basically, all the console Zelda are available in some form or another, from the first to the last, Zelda 2015). 3DS also has some good games, but you'll have better chances of getting a New 3DS in the future (read: wait for the inevitable price cut).

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I would go for 3DS if you have a lot of friends who also play 3DS. Most games I play on the 3DS are MultiPlayer or everyday games such as Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros, Tomodachi Life, Fantasy Life, or Pokemon. Most eShop titles on there are exclusive to the 3DS such as Inazuma 11. I should add that 3DS games are easier to get engaged in than Wii U games.

The Wii U certainly has the superior variants of most eShop games released on both 3DS and Wii U. I would get the Wii U version if you're mainly playing Online or SinglePlayer games. Games such as Monster Hunter 3 and Pikmin 3 feel more thrilling on the Wii U than on the 3DS.

You want the Wii U. For what you're looking for, it's the much better investment. Remember, not only does it give you access to all the great Wii U titles, but it also gives you access to the previous Wii library as well.

Nice replies, thanks a lot.
Few more quesions about the wiiU.
1.How would You rate online play (is it hard to find other players to compete online)? I ask because in my country Wii u is really exclusive/non-popular.
2.Is Wii U gamepad comfortable? (I'd often use off-TV play)
3. Are Wii games upscaled on WiiU or they look the same as on Wi (I mean games which arent HD remakes)

Online play is pretty great, playing games like Mario Kart 8 it is really easy to find online races. Super Smash Bros. there are always people playing online so it is also very easy to find a game.

As far as the gamepad it took a few minutes to get used to especially with some games it just shows the gameplay on the controller as well as on the tv, but off tv play is fantastic especially playing games like captain toad which is great to play on the gamepad.

Wii games play fine on the console they have the same resolution as the wii but I like the backwards compatibility of the console.

Either way playing nintendo games in HD is an incredible experience and for your situation I would go with the wii u.

I did the same thing last year(last Nintendo system was a GBA and got a Wii U) and now I'm getting a N3DS this year so it's very likely that a N3DS will be in your home within the forseeable future.

The Wii backlog is definitely worth your time in the periods between Wii U releases.

Ghost Trick was one of my favorite DS games, in fact that was what I mostly used my 3DS to play when I got it. I wish they'd do a sequel or even a port for the 3DS or Wii U.

Side by side the Wii U titles are better than their 3DS equivalents, i.e. NSMBU>NSMB2, SM3DW>SM3DL, Mario Kart 8>Mario Kart 7, Smash Bros Wii U>Smash Bros 3DS etc. The 3DS has a lot more RPGs (Fire Emblem, Bravely Default, the SMT series) and is more portable (the GamePad has a limited range), but if platformers are what you are looking for then the Wii U is where you'll find the best with SM3DW, DKC Tropical Freeze, NSMBU/Luigi U, Rayman Legends, Shovel Knight, Wii classics like SMG2 and a load of classics from the NES and SNES on the VC.

Ye 3ds has some games I'd definitely want to try, but im afraid that 3ds succesor is coming sooner than we expect (like it was with dsi and 3ds). WiiU seems to be safer buy in that case.
But I took a look at upcoming big releases for WiiU, and the list isnt so long (excluding multiplatform games and minis):
Yoshi, zelda, kirby, splatoon, maybe something else. Can we expect something else? That's a pity there arent many 3rd party games.
Anyway I want and I'll give it a try.

I bought myself a Wii U first, and a couple of days later I ordered myself a 2ds. I realized that nintendo has the games that I want to play in the near future and thought I should have both platforms in order not to miss out on great games like Ocarina of time for example or the upcoming majoras mask and many more.

If I were you I would, of course buy both, otherwise I would make a list of games that I would be interested in and decide which games I want to play first and decide based upon that.

Hi, Marcins94. If you like playing at home and you like Mario, Zelda and Rayman games, you should get the Wii U. New Super Mario Bros. 2 (Nintendo 3DS) is crappy but New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U) and Super Mario 3D World are quite good. Rayman Legends is beautiful and fun and is available on Wii U. The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds (Nintendo 3DS) is lovely but The Legend of Zelda Wii U is looking quite superior.

It's not that I think Wii U is better than New 3DS, it's just that I think Wii U better matches your preferences.

Why i got hyped about n3ds was the better 3D function performance. Now im excited even more about wiiU . Thanks for advice. Lets hope more games will be coming for WiiU next months.

You're welcome, Marcins. It doesn't look like Wii U will ever be getting any relevant third party games, but the exclusive games offer enough variety and quality to its users. Not only the games I mentioned but Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and some eShop and Virtual Console games are impossible to miss: Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Country 3 are precious treasures.

I agree that the 3D improvement is the best feature of the new 3DS design, that and the delayed second analogue button.

I've got both and love both. At the moment, I'd say the 3DS probably comes out ahead. A much larger selection of games.
The Wii U arguably has a better 2015 on the way though. With Splatoon, Star Fox, Xenoblade and Zelda, I doubt you'll regret the purchase.
In terms of Zelda and Mario, they're both fairly even. Ignoring virtual console stuff, you've got 5 Zelda games playable on the 3DS (3 on 3DS, 2 on DS) and you've got 4 mario games (a 2D and a 3D on both the DS and 3DS).
Then on the Wii U you've got (by the end of 2015) 4 Zelda games on the Wii U (2 on WiiU and 2 on Wii) and then 5 Mario games.
That's obviously just the main entries in the series, ignoring spinoffs.
So overall, the Wii U is slightly better for Mario. The 3DS is slightly better for Zelda.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

For Platformers it is a none contest Wii U wins light years better.
