I can't decide between the 2, so tell me what you think. I've heard that the 3DS is really cool, but the iPad 2 fixed the problems of the iPad that set me back from buying it.
3DS. Just buy the iPad 3 when it launches in 6 months with incremental improvements that its praised for for some odd reason :/ Or better yet, forget about iPad completely Seriously though, go with 3DS!
What bboy said. iPod products always re-release later on with more functions.
And Nintendo handhelds don't? They both get revisions eventually. It just comes down to personal preference. I loved the 3D when I tried it and I'm so excited for the virtual handheld so I'll be getting a 3DS over the Ipad.

Then of course, as soon as you actually plop down the cash for the 3DS, the 3DS lite is announced for relkease in two months. It's the same with just about any electronic devices, honestly. especially computers, lol. xD

Most important question is what do you want the iPad 2 for? And do you already have an iPhone 4? I don't see how it's worth it to have two iOS devices. If you're just planning to get it for games, then 3DS would probably be the better investment. If you actually have some other legitimate reasons for needing a tablet, then perhaps get the iPad.
Ah, tough choice. I already have a first generation iPad, so I'll wait till the third or fourth gen to upgrade, but it's a pretty slick device. I love mine; it's great if you need something portable that can browse the web and play games. Can't play Mario on it though. :3

Ahh, good point. If you have an iPad mini (AKA: iPod Touch) then you really have very little reason to get an iPad.

The iPad is for a completely different purpose than the iPhone. It's like saying "why have a computer, when you've got an Android" or "Why get that big 50-inch LCD TV when you've got a radio?"
The big screen on the iPad (and it is a big screen), makes it better for writing, reading magazines and books, surfing the internet and a host of other things than the iPhone. It also makes for a very different gaming experience. While the iPhone is best for small, simple games like Angry Birds, the iPad can be used effectively for FPSers, strategy games, board games, and so on.
Don't forget, the iPad's screen is substantially bigger than a 3DS' - for some genres, that makes it the better "console"
So yeah, if you've used both an iPad and an iPhone you'd realise pretty quickly how different the two are.
I fyou decide to get a ipad wait for a while as I believe there is a samsung tablet coming out which experts claim is better and cheaper. ill look for a source

The Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I've used it. It's not better. It's good, but the combination of the Android App store (which I'm not a massive fan of) and the Android platform are inferior (IMO) to the iOS platform.
Also worth noting that something like 10 times as many Samsung Galaxy Tabs are returned by unhappy customers than iPads.
