That is the question! 'Tis it nobler to buy at launch, or wait until it has support? The answer is whatever your preference happens to be. The first system I got at launch was the Wii, and I was one of the unlucky few to have the internet problems that only existed in random launch models. That said, Nintendo was really good about getting me a fully functioning system as soon as I contacted them. That's just one of the occasional problems one gets when they buy at launch. On the other hand, getting the Wii at launch was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. Meeting the fellow fans waiting in line and telling my friends how awesome the Wii was are just a few of the more enjoyable aspects. Of course, actually HAVING a Wii was pretty good too. Many people who waited were sorely disappointed by the rarity of it. I don't know if the 3DS will have any bugs at launch, and supposedly there will be plenty of units to go around, but I still think getting a system early is fun and well worth any trouble.

Even so, I'm not sure if I'll be getting one at launch or not, mainly because the retailer I plan on buying from has not confirmed if there will be any available on day 1, or any time soon after. I can only afford it, however, if I buy it there, because of all my trade-in credit. I wouldn't be too disappointed though, because none of the games I want come out on launch day, and even the eShop won't be available for at least a month. Basically, if I get it at launch, I'll just be playing the free games until my games came out. I'd still DO that, of course, if just to show everyone I know how great it is and be able to say I'm one of the first Americans to try it, but I won't be upset if it's not available for a month at the store I go to.
