So, I am in Florida, and its been crazy cold out lately. I leave my 3ds on the windowsill to charge. But, the cold has caused a decent amount of condensation to accumulate on the sill, and the 3ds was sitting in about 3-5mm of water... I immediately unplugged it removed battery and dried it with alcohol. When I press the power button, the blue light illuminates and fades off right away. Pressing and holding the power button will illuminate the blue light and it stays solid, but nothing appears on either displays.

Some info:
The 3ds is an Old 3ds
Was in sleep mode when it was charging and got wet
Blue light was no longer illuminated when I picked up the 3ds from the water, nor was the charging indicator

I have complete disassembled it to ensure no visible corrosion. The two fuses are still intact, tested with resistance meter.

Is my 3ds toast? lol

Thanks all!!

Your 3DS is now an ex-3DS.

From personal experience, your 3DS might still be alright. Make sure it is fully dry before trying to turn it on again. Put it in a bowl of uncooked rice and leave it alone for a few days should help to dry it out.

I learned the hard way with an old iPod that one of the worst things you can do after water damage is trying to turn it on right away. But do what this guy says, there may be hope still.

Even if it works after drying it up, I'd recommend getting a replacement unit and use the chance to transfer your data.

One time my iPhone got in the washing machine, I dried it out and it kept working for about 8 months. The truth is that the water did cause a tiny little bit of corrosion inside, and it gave up eventually.

With an iPhone, it's easy to send your data to a new unit if you have cloud backups, but on the 3DS you don't have many options.

I've had good luck placing for an extended period in warm rice and after using a stiff toothbrush or soft steel wool used to remove corrosion from the circuitboard. Was able to get an antique Super Scope 6 working again that way.

But I agree with Meowpheel, if you were thinking of upgrading now could be a good time.
