So I got myself a used 3ds and I was thinking about formatting it to make it more of my own but the previous owner have the ambassador games.
Now my question is, do the eshop account stay intact after a formatting or do I loose all the games?

I'm not sure, but you can edit everything to make it your own.

The eshop account will be deleted too. Just format individual programs rather than the whole thing

I did the same thing with mine - waited for a price drop and then bought an Ambassador system.
However, I did not risk reformatting mine.

Honestly, I would just save myself the trouble and

  • link up with Club Nintendo
  • edit the primary Mii
  • deleting all pictures

Everything else can (more or less) be reconfigured by deleting save files/extra data and re-downloading select titles.
. . . even if you don't know the pin #, this can be reset via Nintendo.

I can now confirm that formating the system does NOT delete the games from the eshop.
They only dissaper if you choose delete account in the eshop settings.

Whew, am I glad that leap of fate was correct

O.o Someone already gave up their 3DS? ....

Not extremely into nintendo at the moment, but not really into anything else either. :|
