My 3DS XL was recently destroyed.

I was looking at the 20th Anniversary Pokemon 3DS that came out a few months ago but became a collectors item the day it came out. What I'm saying is I want a over-priced 3DS. I was thinking I could be slick and buy a regular $200 "New" 3DS at Gamestop and buy the Pokemon Faceplates separately off of Amazon or something. Would I be able to? I'm just assuming because they're both "New" 3DS' it's just the Pokemon Faceplates come with the limited edition DS.

Can you even buy the small model in America? (Outside of themed collectible bundles?)

I believe that the only way to currently get a standard New 3DS in North America (other than importing) is through the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer bundle. If you can find the faceplates off of Amazon and don't mind getting HHD, then this may work. Past that, us unlucky North Americans are stuck with the N3DS XL.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

You know, you're right. We North Americans don't have them but I found a imported black one on eBay for about $170 which is a good deal for me. I might buy both plates I found for around $80. I saved over $100 with that and I'm satisfied. I didn't even want to upgrade from my blue&black 3DS XL but I'm not even the one who broke it, so I'm not buying it LOL.

The thing is Trine I want the black one because personally I feel like it looks better especially when it meshes with the Charizard/Blastoise faceplates. I just wish the larger 3DS' had Faceplates because I also personally like a bigger screen.

Just keep in mind that the system is region locked and it won't be compatible with any of your games or your nnid.

What does that exactly mean? It'll be in Japanese and I'll need to make a new NNID?

You can change the language of the console, but a 3ds of a certain region will only work with games from that same region.

For example, a jp 3ds will only play jp game cards, and it won't recognize us or eu game cards.

Thank you for clarifying that. That's a shame though, I've been researching now and it just says hacking can let you play US/EU games. If I don't find a good solution I'll probably just buy the New 3DS XL at my local Gamestop

Eel

Yeah, getting the xl is the easiest solution.

You can then get a decorative sticker or armor for it. To make it more Pokemon themed.

I also have a decision between these two:

Just go for the 20th Anniversary Pokemon N3DS or Black N3DSXL plain because most skins look flimsy

I just want to know, is the N3DS standard screen size as small as everyone makes it out to be? I'm used to staring at a 3DS XL screen.

I used to have an XL but I prefer the smaller screens and smaller size of the New 3DS. Plus I like to be able to customize my 3DS with the face plates.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

I decided to buy a black new 3DS XL
