I keep my DS and PSP in cases, and I've never had a problem with dropping them. My biggest problem is waring out the buttons because I play on them so damn much.
Sigh my poor dsi is in the drawer.... first the r button stopped working then the thing just won't come on... T-T

Try relaxing during gameplay and avoid gripping the buttons so hard.[That might help]
My brother's Gameboy Advance SP survived the house fire we had 4 years ago. It's all burned and dented on the outside- crispy. Shocked to see it works. When you flip it open, it makes a 'snap-crack' sound that's cringe-worthy. Can't say the same for his PS3 that melted into glass pieces. His PSP didn't work until 2 years later- strangely enough.
What I'm wondering is what'll happen to the 3D effect if the screen becomes scratched or cracked? I can only imagine it would ruin the look of depth as you'd constantly see the scratch/crack in the middle plane of the 3D layers...
What if your 3DS comes with a dreaded dead pixel on the top screen? ZOMG. A dead pixel + 3D cannot be good. D:
What if one camera stops working or falls out, and you're annoyed at how you're looking at 2D pictures when they say they're 3D!?!?!
What if your 3D slider gets something stuck in it whilst in 2D mode and you can't for the life of you switch it into 3D mode?
What if you drop your 3DS and the top screen only shows a picture to your left eye? I wouldn't want to play one-eyed. D:
Okay, I agree that these are unlikely to happen, but sitll, I desperately want to know! xD
Aqua Blue Nintendo 3DS. Ridge Racer 3D. Ask for my 3DS friend code if you would like an add. :) PSN ID: BAZ1307 XBL: baz1307

I'm think I should cancel pre-order.
@Alex Turns out DSiWare at least works but I still haven't tried carts. But I see your point.

To many "what if"'s. If it has an dead pixel, send it back to nintendo. Avoid situations where it would get scratched, Like; put it away if your pet is picking at you, wanting to play. Don't drop it or buy that Nerf armor...Or some kind of shock free cover.
Yea, when my DSi's shoulder buttons stopped working, I just sent the thing to Nintendo, who immediately fixed it up and sent it back, with progress reports and everything. They have great customer service!
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

What if you choke on a fly and die?
What if you sprain your ankle by accidentally stepping on the edge of a curb?
What if instead of spraining your ankle, you fall into the street and get squished by a passing vehicle?
What if a murderer breaks into your home and starts hacking up your family?
What if a black hole forms near our planet and we get sucked in and perish?
What if you oversleep one morning and that just happens to be the morning your house gets bombed by a lunatic?
Most of this stuff you guys are worrying about are just matters of taking care of your console and not breaking it. Obviously if you break it it won't work well, or at all, anymore.
I'm amazed that nobody has considered yet what may happen with the circle pad after a few years of rigorous use.
