Wait for the 3DS. It can play 3DS and DS games. It also has better graphics and much more features, so it's the clear choice.

Which one is better? Donuts obviously!In all seriously though, I'm gonna have to recommend the Sega Nomad.It delivers state of the art next gen graphics and will drain your batteries like a fat man downing I-Hop pancakes.

3DS is the successor to the DS(i). If your wanting a steady stream of new releases for years to come, the 3DS is probably your best bet. It is also worth noting that the 3DS can play any game that the DSi can in addition to 3DS games.
On the other hand, if you don't have a lot of money to work with, the DS(i) might be the better option just because of it's lower price point.
Really it is up to you, man.
