5th Cell creative director says that the 3DS is cooler than Kinect and Move.

"Yeah... a little. I don't know," he said when asked if Kinect or Move were particularly inspiring to him. "The 3DS is cooler in our opinion."

Kinect and Move are motion controls......which we've seen before(Wii). 3DS is brand spankin' new. Ninty's always one step ahead. Like a carpenter....who makes stairs.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, would you kindly?

Yes, I agree that Kinect and Move can't compare to the Nintendo 3DS which is why I didn't buy a PS3 or a XBOX 360 this year. I'm quite happy with our Wii and I'm thinking that Nintendo is far superior to either PlayStation or Microsoft XBOX (those two companies have been disappointing me for like forever). I thought Microsoft would have made a handheld XBOX by now but all they are doing is tinkering with terrible phones! Want a KIN anyone? How about Windows Phone 7? No ya say? Yes, I thought so.

Seriously, I don't need a PS3 or an XBOX when I'm having so much enjoyment with my DSi, Wii and PC thanks to Maple Story continually getting better and better and who knows how great Maple Story will be once the "Big Bang" happens in later this month. Plus Nexon is going to save MMO's from Warcraft with Dragon Nest next year anyway.

BTW check this out: http://www.siliconera.com/2010/11/29/epic-mickey-creators-tho...

Sounds as if we might get Epic Mickey 3DS quite soon eh? That would be great.

Except Sony was first to the party with 3D. Except Apple was first to the party with motion sensors in a handheld device. Except Nintendo has still yet to prove it has any online credentials, something it's a few million steps behind the competition.

I have no idea what 5th Cell guy is even on about. How do you compare a new handheld console to two motion gaming products that are nothing alike? It's like saying "I think books are cooler than playing cops and robbers outside..." Aside from the fact they're both forms of recreation, the two are completely imcomparable.

How is the 3DS a Move and Kinect rolled into one? it doesn't have any motion controls, does it? i see you replied before i was able to, O, lol... that said, you won't see me dancing in front of a 3DS; its camera is not the same as the Kinect's. and using it in the same manner as a wiimote/Move controller is about as preposterous. its motion control might be decent for flight sim games, racing/driving games, and possibly puzzle games (like that one that came out a while back that uses the camera to track position and rolls something in-game accordingly, i believe i read a review of a game along those lines), but a WM+? what would be the purpose of that?

that said, all he said was that the 3DS was 'cooler' to him when asked which new thing was the most inspiring. they've already developed games for the Wii, so they've probably already had a taste of motion controls in some form or fashion (yeah, they're not all the same, but the general idea is -- you control the game with body movements either alongside with or as opposed to a controller)... perhaps he made the comparison in terms of which he could conceivably do more unique things with at the moment?

another important thing is where they're coming from. this is 5th Cell, these guys' hottest game is probably Scribblenauts, which is a handheld title (i could be wrong, but i don't recall seeing people get so hot and bothered over Lock's Quest or Drawn to Life, really, though those are also handheld titles). they could probably have a lot of fun creating a 3D Scribblenauts title.

It is cooler because its far more innovative. I've played the Kinect a fair bit at another person's house.. its real fun, but not "cool" and the fun in most games doesn't last for me and the kids of various ages I was with. And what is with the Move's distance from sensor thing. Its too far.

There's a big difference between 3d that requires an expensive pair of glasses and 3d that just shows up when you look at it. Nintendo is the first in the glasses-free 3d market. As for motion sensors in handheld gaming, I'll point you towards Kirby Tilt n Tumble, Yoshi Topsy Turvy, and Warioware Twisted... all published by Nintendo, all use accelerometers, all released before the iPhone.

There's a big difference in motion controls using a remote, and controller-free motion controls, but that hasn't stopped any Nintendo fan from labelling Kinect a copycat.

...Wasn't there some phone or device out there that used a glassesless 3D screen before?

Yeah, thought so...knew the technology wasn't new...but like you said its pretty awesome to see it in a gaming handheld. (especially since I've never seen the technology myself in the first place)

Glassless 3D technology has been possible before - Sharp actually invented the technology.

Credit to Nintendo for finding a way to introduce it to handheld gaming, but the technology itself isn't their innovation at all.

I thought that Nintendo wanted to release Luigi's Mansion as a glasses free 3D game that would work on 3D TVs. Because it would only work on special 3D TVs, they never released a 3D version. I'm not sure if Sharp created the glasses-free screen before this though... or was it Sharp that invented the TV that the game could play on?! I'm not sure.

According the spirit of the article in the Nintendo Power September 2010 Issue Luigi's Mansion will be brought to the Nintendo 3DS.
