Yeah, this could mean they are just working through licensing/distribution formats.
There's really a lot of nitty gritty that needs to be worked out here. How should these movies be distributed? Will Nintendo need to set up their own online video store or will they partner with somebody like Amazon, iTunes, or Netflix to program a shop for the 3DS. Will 3DS compatible digital copies be included with blu-ray/dvd releases? If so, will consumers used to one-click syncing for iTunes bother to rip-copy-paste to sim card their movies from DVDs? Will you be able to rent movies, stream movies, and/or purchase movies? How much will they cost? What, if any, DRM are movie studios asking for? What file format will they use to play movies on the 3DS? How much effort will it take for studios to take movies meant to be 3D on a massive screen to shrink it down and make it 3D compatible for such a tiny/comparatively low-resolution screen. At least we know that last part is technically possible via the E3 trailers. Will 2D movies be offered too?
This is a brand new area for Nintendo, and there's a lot to work out before they even start speaking with individual studios and working out licensing agreements. I don't think that we should be surprised that it hasn't all come together yet. Depending on how much effort it takes to convert these movies, it may not e something we see before a fairly sizeable install base is there to convince studios/partners to do all the logistical legwork. People are interested, and there's really no reason it CAN'T be done given the specs we currently have for the 3DS. It's just how much work Nintendo, movie companies, and possible distribution partners like Netflix feel like putting in and when they can implement it.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery

Such great wisdom Token Girl doth have seeded deep within her beautiful mind. Impressive, most truly impressive. I don't think that ever I have read such an insightful piece on a forum in a very long time.
Ah, but yes, I agree that there are a lot of kinks and hangups that must be organized before we begin to see films on the Nintendo 3DS; still seeing as Disney, Warner Brothers and DreamWorks all had trailers on the Nintendo 3DS at e3 2010 it isn't a bad idea to think that maybe they'll be the first-lings to churn out media material on the Nintendo 3DS early on while other studios might arrival on the system later, perhaps not even in 2011 but more like in the latter portion of 2012.

I don't get it; why don't we just wait until the actual release before we start throwing accusations?

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Wait and this makes a difference how? all that was said that the 3ds 3d worked well and that with movies nothing was set in stone, and the ones not set in stone aren't even made yet.
This has to do with people not the 3ds, licenses, money, yadda yadda that type a thing.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Yeah, if I want an "entertainment hub" I'll go out and buy one of those "computer" things I hear so much about.
I have no desire whatsoever for my game console to do anything other than play games, and would much rather they focus on that. (And by "they," I don't just mean Nintendo. The less often I have to sit and wait for my Xbox software to update so that it can make alterations to features I never use, the better.)
What I mean is I consider those entertainment hubs to be nothing more than a bonus and I won't be heartbroken if the next console or handheld doesn't have them

I wish movies didn't even come into it. With the exception of the PlayStation 3 I buy a games console to play GAMES on. Watching films on a handheld, in my opinion, is very awkward anyway, even if it is in 3D.

I love you. But ya know, not that way. Even though your hawaiian shirts are pretty sweet.
