Topic: 3DS accomplishments - the unknown ones speculation

Wondering whether the unknown accomplishments related to the StreetPass plaza may feature Amiibos somewhere....

Really odd (and a little irritating, for me at least) that they've been around for ages and still no-one knows what they are. At any rate, I hope they're not as ridiculously hard as the ones for massive numbers of StreetPass hits or the impossible ten Special Mii one (UK/EU)

@Sakura That's very doubtful. Here is a complete list of accomplishments - no mystery to be had here, Scooby.

That doesn't seem to be a complete list. The ones from 55-64 are missing. True, it is a list of the known ones, but I want a list of the unknown ones, if you know what I mean... Thank you, anyway. I really hope that 90 000 is the maximum number of hits. I can't imagine having to go for 200 000, 300 000... No chance, even if Nintendo prolongs the lifespan of the 3DS by issuing new models every couple of years!

@Sakura Sorry, didn't notice the missing accomplishments... -_-
But don't dismiss the possibility of requiring up to a million Streetpass tags. Japan is literally full of Nintendo Zones, and getting Streetpasses there is super-easy, especially in the big cities. Considering the focus on japanese cultural and societal structures when designing Streetpass, this is a really disturbing, yet possible goal.
If someone set up a Homepass with rotating MAC, it could (theoretically) be done in about a single year. With that said, it's unlikely anyone's investing that much time in Streetpass.

@Kaze_Memaryu Please to God don't let it be a million hits....I'm up to just under 45 000 and use Homepass to get 2500 a week. Should get to 90 000 in about February if I can keep it up. I put on the TV to make it less boring, change the MAC manually on the PC then welcome in every visitor through the plaza gate. I didn't look very closely at a rotating MAC because of the need to welcome every visitor. Have I missed something there? Any way to stack up hits without seeing them all through the plaza? That would save so much time. I wonder if someone in Japan would have already reached some of the hit milestones if that is what the accomplishments are. That's what I'm hoping anyway because having started, I want get them all and I'd be so disappointed to find out that I couldn't because the targets are so vast! Please Nintendo, don't torture me so!

I had no idea that StreetPass reflects Japanese society and culture, probably because I'm sadly not at all familiar with that society or culture. I just thought that StreetPass was an interesting and fun feature. I'd love to know more about Japan. Is the "Please understand" a common Japanese phrase that doesn't have a real translation? What's with kawaii? I find it fascinating.

@Sakura I find it hard to believe that not even a japanese 3DS owner hasn't hit the million mark yet, but even the few who understand japanese don't seem to find anything about it in japanese forums.

Streetpass mostly serves as a way of "meeting" others without any public attention while on the go - work and school times are quite high over there, so most people don't have enough free time to play at home. They can also more or less socialize through Streetpass features without having to pay attention to it, meaning they can always focus on what they're doing and take care of Streetpass when they get home.

"Please understand" is not a cultural thing, but rather a frequent way of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata to apologize for delays/maintenance or lack of info during a Nintendo Direct. He's been saying it in almost every Nintendo Direct he was in at some point, and his flawed english makes it sound kinda funny, so people quickly caught onto it. By now, it's a catchphrase to jokingly point out mistakes or problems from Nintendo in general. It's rather affectionate humor, though.

"Kawaii", on the other hand, is more of a cliché. It's the japanese word for "cute/adorable", and is pretty much a style of its own in japan, though it's mostly linked to animé and cosplay. In "western" forums, it's often used as a means to make fun of animé culture and how super-deformed their cute characters tend to be. Over time, it's become more of a means to make fun of anything that seems even remotely japanese, though.
