Some say that with the 3d slider up can hurtt your eyes after a while. sounds dangerous. and there is always the option to turn the 3d off, but it makes the game look rough. the 3d helps smooth the graphics and adds depth.so depending on the game, i will have it on. i bought a black 3ds with samurai warriors chronicles, one of the more under looked launch titles. but my opinion its the only game worth 40 at launch.
so will you guys and girls play with the 3d slider on or off??
The 3D graphics do not look "bad" with the slider off, they just lose their depth. The games I tried at E3 looked a bit more jagged with the 3D turned off, but so far all of the games I have with my JP 3DS look absolutely great with or WITHOUT the 3D effect. It's going to come down to what you're comfortable viewing. I personally would never go back to 2D after playing these games in 3D and I generally keep the slider at about 3/4 3D.

Thank you. That is very helpful and it also helps to ease my heart as I was thinking about playing with the 3D turned off when traveling to ensure my battery life lasted longer.

Can we please just post our opinions and leave the name-calling at home. It's not a stupid topic because I've already encountered people who've played my 3DS that have told me it hurts their eyes and they will be playing with the 3D turned off. There's still a rather significant increase in graphics quality from a DS to 3DS, even with the 3D turned off.
And one piece of advice: When you get your 3DS system, give your eyes time to adjust to the 3D. It takes a day or two to fully become comfortable with it. Remember, your eyes see 3D every single day in the world around you, but these same eyes have been staring at a 2D screen your entire life. They need some time to acclimate to the 3D screen.
I've no hard feelings toward you warnerdan. I just hate it when unkind things are said to others. I've been picked it quite a bit back when I was young and defenseless and I try to stick up for others. But you're cool with me man. To each his own 3D or no 3D

Thanks very much for the info, Corbie. I'm not sure how I can appropriately respond to the topic since I have no idea how my eyes will deal with the 3D effect yet, but I intend to leave it on if it doesn't cause eye strain or other problems. As it is, I'm using eye drops constantly just to use a computer all day at work, so looking at a much smaller screen in 3D might not be great, but I'm giving it a shot.
I'm gonna experiment a little with the 3D slider before i do anything else after i unbox the 3DS. Probably have it down more than halfway to preserve the battery life.
As far as affecting battery life, the 3D slider will be either "off" or "on". Turning it halfway down won't save any more battery life than having it all the way up because as long as it's even on the slightest bit, the system is having to split the image and thus use more battery life. All the depth slider controls is how far apart the images are going to your eyes.
