The 3DS will have 2 cameras on the outside of the unit allowing the mass consumer to be able to take 3 dimensional photography for the first time with immediate results of what that 3d image might look like without glasses or red and blue tricks. This is HUGE! but it seems so simple that it could be overlooked as the one feature that could make or break the 3DS success.

If you could entertain my thought for a moment.

You go on a trip and take a picture of the Eiffel Tower in 3D using your 3DS.
You upload it to Facebook using the new 3DS 3D photo to Facebook icon.
Your friends on may view the image flat on Facebook using a pc.
Your friends using Opera browser on their 3DS when visiting your facebook page sees the images in 3D.
Your friends using a 3D HDTV also may view this image in 3D.
Also imagine the possibilities if Nintendo updated the 3DS to allow for 3D video. !!!

Feedback welcomed!

currently enjoying the new mario vs dk

So what sort of feedback are you looking for? Do you work for Nintendo or something? lol

I think the 3D camera will be great. It will be like looking through a window at the view outside. (Although a still image.) That's what the 3D will be like.

Facebook would have to support the image format, which they most likely won't as there won't be enough 3DS's to warrant paying someone to include the code, that and I'm sure the browser on the 3DS still sucks.
So 3D pictures will be a novelty until Europe and North America get 3D cameras.

Talking about cameras, does anyone else find it incredibly cheap and stupid they didn't have 3D cameras on the INSIDE. I mean seriously, that would've added gameplay elements detecting dept and heaven forbid Nintendo try and be first at something non-game related like 3D video chat

I find it to be a good idea

Yes, how dare Nintendo not try something non-game related even though they are a gaming company that makes games

I love the fact that the 3DS will take stereoscopic photos, but I do agree, I don't think you'll be able to share those photos with anyone who doesn't have a 3DS. So you'll end up having to mail your 3DS to your grandma with detailed instructions so she can see your 3D photos of your recent trip.

Maybe they'll do a Facebook app, that could work... Maybe they'll let you print photos out for the technologically adverse and sell a cheap plastic stereoscope for viewing, who knows?

And yes, it's really short-sighted of NIntendo to not put two cameras on the inside and then talk about the 3DS being capable of 3D video chat... But then, that gives them something to add to the 3DS Lite.
