Topic: 2-D image of a 3DS game.

I just got the newest Nintendo power and every 3DS screen shot has this printed on it. I feel like my intelligence is being insulted. Do they really think people are that dumb? How's it going to be a 3-D image in a magazine?

It's for all the 5 and 6 year olds and older aged dummies who, believe it or not, actually expected to see the 3D. Don't take it personally.

Considering the amount of people who said 'Kid Icarus doesn't look 3D!' when watching the trailer yes they do need to put that.

I think that's a message for the elderly, but that's just me. Old people aren't techies like we are.

Yep, they do. Judging from experience, i'd say its a wise idea to print that there.

It's a disclaimer to the stupid that this site does not give life, just like how 2-D images are not 3-D.

I guess it makes sense for the extremely out of touch people. I just couldn't help rolling my eyes when I read that on every shot.

It does kind of insult your intelligence, doesn't it. But they're covering their behinds not only for the not-so-tech savvy but also the skeptics and haters. Those messages are on a lot of 3DS footage and photos on the internet too, so they're there to explicitly say that people's computer screens aren't displaying what the 3DS's top screen will actually look like.

Not that it really convinces them anyway. You wouldn't believe what some people have said about the 3DS and its "fake 3D", whatever that means.

Not everyone's tech-minded. If you say something's 3D they'll expect to see it in 3D. Or they'll assume you mean non-stereoscopic 3D (ie what we've been playing since the N64) and not get what the fuss is about. It doesn't help that '3D' has two uses in the games industry - for both games that use polygonal models, and hardware with visual depth.

I could have sworn that the 3ds game pics in the latest Nintendo Power Magazine were all in 3d...

Actually within the game and film industries that sense of visual depth given by projecting different images into each eye is referred to as stereoscopy. It's more meaningful and descriptive, but it doesn't roll off the tongue so it's not been widely adopted by the general public. Avatar and its ilk being "in 3D" rather than "stereoscopic" didn't help much either.

If you look at comments on youtube videos of the 3DS you'd be surprised by the number of people complaining that the "3D isn't turned on" and when it is turned on there are a lot of people saying stuff like "I can't see the 3D, it doesn't work". So it's surprisingly necessary to point out that you can't see 3D on on 3D screens and paper. Then again, the comment section on youtube is a bit of a siren for the idiots of the world.

I laugh when I see that. Then, they come to the conclusion that the 3D is fake JUST because they can't see it through their computer screen. Or, they are in denial and refuse to believe the possibility.

Nintendo knew that marketing the 3DS would be a pain. And people can really be idiotic online. Seeing is believing, indeed.

I haven't seen the 3D on the 3DS as yet, I'll save that for launch day.

@Sylver Yeah, can't wait for the awesomness to pop-out sand punch me March 27th. I'm sooooo gonna take a picture of my fist, then show it to my friends, and mess with the 3D slider, so it'll look like it's punching them. :3

Are they putting any 3DS systems on display at stores yet? I'd really like to check it out but It probably would be more special seeing it once you bring home your very own 3DS. Kinda like that feeling you get when hooking up a new gaming system. I remember being giddy as a school girl the day I first hooked up my Snes.

A person at the Gamestop I go to said that he would like to have one on display but has heard nothing on that yet. Well, because I work @ the mall, I'm expecting to get some alone time with it when I go in for opening

At the same time, I want to wait till I gets mines.
