When Defend Your Castle was first released on WiiWare, many people scoffed at what they believed to be nothing more than a Flash title with improved visuals and an unwelcome price tag. However, XGen Studios must have been onto something as the game has been nominated in the 2009 ELAN Awards.

Here’s a spot of good news before the weekend. From next Friday, 1st August, European and Australian gamers will finally be able to download the rather excellent Defend Your Castle from their Wii Shop. Defend Your Castle has been out for a while in North America, since the launch of WiiWare, in fact! The game, which is based on the popular online flash game of the same name, is the cheapest WiiWare game, though that doesn't mean it's bad - On the contrary, it's actually rather addictive as our Defend Your Castle review testifies.

X-Gen Studios has revealed that Defend Your Castle will launch alongside the North American WiiWare service on 12th May 2008. The company has already launched a dedicated page for the game and some interesting looking screenshots.
