Judging from the newest entry in the Nicalis Blog, the WiiWare version of Cave Story seems to be nearing completion.

Having only recently announced their newest WiiWare title Night Game, Nicalis took us by surprise this week with the unexpected release of the game's official game play trailer.

A recently released lineup of forthcoming games for Nintendo systems has thrown up a brand new WiiWare release called Night Game. Produced by the same team behind the upcoming Cave Story WiiWare port, this title is apparently ‘part action, part puzzler’.

As usual, Nicalis is releasing Cave Story screenshots one at a time. This time we get a look at one of the graveyard shots of the game. Once again the game looks fantastic and our anticipation level for the game is at an all-time high.

Things have been a bit quiet on the Cave Story development front for a while, so it’s good to find out that things are moving forward nicely in this blog post from Nicalis.

In an entry yesterday on their official blog, Nicalis spoke a little bit about the progress on their upcoming WiiWare title Cave Story. They also let gamers in on a little surprise announcement regarding some additional content for the game as well.

That's right, you saw it on the web here first. Nicalis has sent us a web exclusive screenshot of the actual WiiWare version of Cave Story in action for all to see. In the screen shot below you can see Quote and Toroko meet up with Misery the witch and Balrog for the first time. As you can see, the visuals have a very slick and glossy appearance, but the unique look of the original game is still intact as well.

The news that the legendary PC freeware game Cave Story is making its way to WiiWare has made many people very happy indeed - us included.

It seems that many diehard Cave Story fans have recently become divided over the slightly updated artwork that will be used in the upcoming WiiWare version of Cave Story. Many fans have already expressed their dislike of the more detailed look Daisuke Amaya has given Toroko, feeling that it takes away from the classic old-school look the game has always featured.
