@ReaderRagfihs Good to no. It's the only version of the Game Boy Advance I never owned, so I will probably pick one up. Along with the Game Boy Light, which was a Japan exclusive.

I'd say the main difference besides the size, is the lack of game link support, which also removes access to some other accessories.

The sound is also a bit tiny.

I love my micro though, definitely a fantastic version of the gba.

Re: The GameBoy Advance Thread

@Heavyarms55 Not really, they're pretty much all the same thing aside from different colors/faceplates. The biggest misconception I notice is people saying it uses the same charger as the DS Lite, which is false. They look similar but my DS Lite charger does not fit into my Micro.

If anyone's wondering just how small it is, it's smaller than an NES controller and slightly larger than a single Switch Joy Con (with the wrist strap attached). And yet somehow I don't ever have problems reading text or hands cramping. Heck, I would even say I find it a bit more comfortable than the SP.

@ReaderRagfihs it’s been close to a year ago that I was playing the game daily up until I beat it. I thought I remembered going back to the Zero suit level a couple times. I could be wrong though.

Re: The GameBoy Advance Thread

@DTMOF84 I don't have experience with that particular game, but usually when a battery dies the save file is wiped and it's impossible to save again until it's replaced.

Sometimes if the battery is weak and unstable it'll wipe your save file but still be able to save, but I've never heard of it reverting to a previous save unless the current one got corrupted somehow. Are you sure you saved after finishing?

If a game with a battery has an issue will it just totally not save or lose your save altogether? I have Zero Mission and beat it. Got to the Zero suit part of the game and stopped playing. Now when I go back to it it’s at my save before beating the game.

Re: The GameBoy Advance Thread

@CharlieSmile That's an option. Though if you don't want to buy a screwdriver, an unscientific option is the fact that games with batteries will be slightly heavier than ones without.

How many games do you have? I have roughly 50+ at last count (all authentic), and the only ones with batteries are Bomberman Tournament, F Zero Maximum Velocity, and Pokemon Ruby.

I'm sorry for the late reply, but if you still desire a list of GBA games that use a battery, this is a pretty decent resource: https://gbatemp.net/threads/gameboy-advance-gba-games-requiring-batteries.322803/

Re: The GameBoy Advance Thread

@KingMike I'm pretty sure that's nothing to worry about. The eeprom inside GBA games is rated for at least 100,000 writes, and in reality will likely last much longer. And even if the limit is reached, it shouldn't erase the save data.

I don't have the exact link but a while ago some people on avrfreaks deliberately tried to fail an eeprom to see how many writes an eeprom chip could do before something went wrong, and it took literally millions of writes before that happened.

Re: The GameBoy Advance Thread

I've asked before if the face that Fire Emblem (Blazing Sword or FE7 or whatever else you want to call it) auto-saves every single turn (making the Quit option completely redundant) would burn out the save memory chip faster than normal and people said they don't think so.
