@AlexanderDaniels I hate to break it to you, but not every woman wears 50 million layers of makeup and have perfect facial symmetry like the videogames show. This is how it is in real life
@SpaceboyScreams Good grief that sounds horrible if all of that is true. I really hope that things are better now and if not, that the news in this article MAKES things better.
Geez, I bet so many kids thought being a game tester at Nintendo would be the coolest thing ever. I sure did back then so hearing this is kind of heart breaking. I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough time there!
@AlexanderDaniels Old Netherrealm women designs are horrendous. Good riddance to designs like Deception Mileena where it's just a woman wearing arm sleeves, a single string of cloth over her midsection, and a thong but otherwise nothing else. Those things are both skeevy and just look completely stupid.
I've also played some Splatoon 1 and Mario Kart 8 over the past couple days. Looks like there will be people playing until the last minute. Hopefully enthusiasts will keep it going after Ninty shuts their servers down.
I've been playing mario kart 7, pokemon x and fire emblem and few others. It's a nostalgic trip to my early teen years and will always be my favorite nintendo era.
I haven't been able to redownload wiiware titles on my wii U the past few days. I wonder if it's temporary or what? I should probably just mod my wii u and use the free online stuff (which I'm sure is way faster too)..
Why give this game time to be patched?? It didn't stop them giving My Time at Sandrock a bad score that sounds like it's been patched up. If you wait for this to be fixed then re-review patched up games, simple
@90sRetroGaming Mirror mode is no change. It serves no purpose other than to wreck your mind. The tracks remain the same. It's a cheap, nasty and lazy addition, especially when they might be part of completing a game. When your mind does adjust, then it's just repeating tracks.
I don't know about Ocarina. I'm only talking about racing games.
BotW was great, but it really just pales compared to TotK imo. People always cite the openness of BotW, but where they saw openness, I thought “I get to explore the way I want to explore.” TotK just blew that out of the water with the options it gives you. As a child, whenever I got stuck I’d think “I would have done things this way based on my understanding of the physics”. Now, I can actually do things the way I intend to (or sometimes didn’t intend to). I do like my multiple choice exams, but while BotW gave me A,B,C,D, TotK gave me A-Z.
Sadly, this is the future of gaming from here on out.
It used to be you bought a console, some game carts/discs, and could play as much as you wanted until either of those things broke or died.
But now, with the emphasis on "always online" and frequent updates, there comes a point where the servers shut down and the game loses some functionality or even becomes unplayable.
Thank god there's a dedicated fanbase of hardcore nerds who can find ways to circumvent this, but even they can only do so much (provided they aren't slapped down by the Powers That Be).
I don’t have a clue what to make of this. It could be horrifying, totally normal, not terrible, anything. I’d need to be more in tune with what actually goes on within Nintendo, and as they are not particularly public with what they do behind closed doors, I shall have to live in ignorance for the time being.
Which I can deal with, life be miserable enough as it is, I can survive not having another bubble burst
TOTK wasn't even a Zelda game, it was just Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts with a BOTW skin. I'm not even a fan of the open world change of BOTW but even then I consider it more of a 'Zelda' game than TOTK.
And it's been postponed to June 21, 2024 Sorry, but I can't take this seriously anymore. I don't know what's worse, that it was postponed (without explanation) or that it was clear that it would be postponed.
@Not_Soos Yeah I half expected it to be taken down by now but I was curious what the reason would be, and it was worth the risk if at some point in the future it really happened. 😂
Technically TOTK is my favourite. So much is improved. But BOTW raised the bar like no other. So TOTK is my favourite with a "but." I guess it's true and the same as birth order. The first born is the wow newness to parents whereas the second born is better, , but not as wow as the first. Only child thinking here...
This is great, I didn't even know this was a thing. Now I think they have 4 f zero games in total. Anyway I believe the newest f zero was on GameCube, a new game would be great. Anyway, can't you just add Chrono Trigger finally, and maybe mother 3?
this is good for the steam deck and rog... and even good news for Linux. I think it will be more akin to that streaming only thing that came out as they take a software approach.
Not to dismiss the issues those contractors might have without that Nintendo money, but considering some of what's come out about contractors there, this seems like its perhaps for the best for all involved tbh.
@BTB20 It's a long list, top item being the culture we're all sick of hearing about in other companies by now; my girlfriend and I quit when nothing was done about something that was happening to her, blatantly, on full display for weeks, and we weren't even the first people to report it. The sanitation was horrific, there were weird stains and very bad smells everywhere from the carpet to the chairs as if a janitor hadn't been in the area for years. The 3DS units we had to work with were disgusting and falling apart and the keyboards were even worse. It was such a sad little office and they put up mangled old posters of Mario characters that were probably an attempt to make you feel cool about working there but ultimately just made the atmosphere more of a joke, I sat next to two crumpled halves of a Toad poster put together crudely with a crooked strip of tape. Management would play their political podcasts on high volume while everyone worked and if you asked them to turn it down they had all sorts of idiotic responses like "work your way up to management and you can play whatever you'd like" or "you should be paying attention to this". They shut and locked the doors the second the clock hit 8am and anyone who was literally even a second late for any reason missed the whole day and got a strike, three of which would get you fired, and other penalties included "referencing other games or series that you're not working on" even if you said something like "nice Zelda shirt" to someone in the break room which would result in getting called into a meeting with a manager and having a 15 minute conversation about how you're putting their security in jeapordy. It was cool during lunch walking over to the main Nintendo building's cafeteria next door but the contrast in quality made going back to your cubicle all the more sad. The nicer building had big statues, happy employees, clean everything. It was like we didn't belong there. I could go on.
@Grumblevolcano the April direct is getting to be more likely. Announce all your games, then in the summer, announce the new console. At least that’s what my brain thinks will happen.
Steel Diver: Sub Wars' servers already got the axe, loaded it up for the first time in a while last month... boom. Hopefully third party servers for that will exist one day in the not far future. For 3DS online multiplayer I never had more fun than in those waters.
At the very least, these were contractors who knew and agreed to this kinda stuff day one. The entire structure behind being a contractor is picking up and dumping jobs semi frequently. Still sucks, but they should know the drill by now given their line of work.
Now MY concern is... WHAT QUALITY TESTERS???? You are telling me 100 people had the chance to see, play, and DO something about the constant AI slop and stolen asset flip garbage clogging up the eshop??? I know the job isn't as simple as that, but... they DO know these are making the eshop an interactive mobile game ad nightmare, right???
I hope I misinterpreted what this position meant, because if I was right then I don't even wanna know what things will be like now
Seeing 40% say they prefer BOTW is a little shocking to me, but also totally understandable. Personally, I prefer TOTK, but BOTW’s simplicity, for lack of a better description, is refreshing. Still think TOTK is a much bigger and more expansive game, though.
@arabiansanchez This is my thought, too. A big pool of testers would probably make it harder to prevent or track a leak if one happened--they're cleaning house so they can limit who sees what Switch 2 games and when.
